A Breed Apart Animal Hospital

Madison, Wisconsin
General Info
A Breed Apart Animal Hospital is notable for its reliable and all-inclusive approach, targeting pet owners’ needs. Veterinary services at A Breed Apart Animal Hospital in Madison function on the basis of spatial memory and energy balance. The whole series of steps a pet takes at the visit, from start to finish, supports exact sensory perception in Wisconsin. The way the room is set up for appointments is always the same, repeating daily. The furniture arrangement, lighting, and entry points are all identical to prevent additional steps in decision-making. Staff members perform the tasks in low tones of voice and limited body movement, pausing between steps to allow the patient to acclimate. Smell management remains a high priority, with scents being neutralized between visits to prevent layering. The pet’s orientation pattern determines whether the owner can have a close or distant sitting position. A Breed Apart Animal Hospital provides assistance with diagnostic tests, infection control measures, joint health, diet changes, behavior consultations and recovery monitoring. Services emerge as part of interrelated processes rather than as isolated checklist items. When the animal turns away or lowers its ears, staff members reestablish familiar cues by repeating the low-impact gestures or offering a towel or sleeve. Post-care recommendations and reintegration into a harmonious lifestyle. Families are trained on how to establish a morning routine at home after the procedure. In addition, they are taught how to subdue all stimuli at home and apply soft monotonous sounds as ways of regulating the sleep cycle. The instructions also focus on adjusting the environment so that the pets can continue with their daily lives without confusion. A Breed Apart Animal Hospital provides veterinary services to markets as far as Madison and other Wisconsin environs from the facility by replicating nature’s animal regulatory patterns through gentle rhythms, predictable spaces, noises for independent decision making. The practice offers a wide variety of services including radiology (X-rays), pet euthanasia, ultrasound, vaccinations, prescription medications, and more. This means holding pets’ paws through all stages of their lives—from routine wellness visits to advanced and complex medical-care needs. Pet owners also praise the staff’s professionalism, clear and compassionate communication, and understanding approach. From senior pet care to urgent health concerns, they want to establish strong and lasting relationships. The clinic also acts as an educational tool for pet owners and a source of expert advice on preventive measures. The closer the company is to the local community, the stronger is responsible pet ownership. New and repeat clients often mention how the veterinary practice is constantly improving with time and how welcoming it is to diverse people.

I adore this veterinary! We switched from a well known veterinary clinic in town 5 years ago and immediately wished we had made the switch sooner! We are often able to get in quickly (today I got home from work and my pug wasn't moving well, and I called and was able to get in ONE HOUR LATER! They also bundled the visit with her annual visit since she was close to being due.) The exams are more thorough then any I've experienced, the waits are short, and the prices are incredibly reasonable. And the care is top notch--they seem to adore my dog almost as much as I do! I have recommended this place to others and everyone who has gone there has switched. Don't hesitate to try it! Read Less

Since that time we've gone here for numerous surgeries, impromptu appointments, and yearly checkups for our Bulldog and have come to know the entire staff as an extension of our family. A Breed Apart offers the best service and prices we've been able to find and if there is a service they cannot provide, they point you to the best specialists possible. Our oldest dog, Duncan, had a sudden acute case of "I don't feel good."  He was all hunched over, could barely move that morning and yelped (not the royal "Yelped"--no opposable thumbs, right?  I also cut off his internet access for his abuse of YouTube cat video privileges) when I gently touched his right side. A Breed Apart, who is our go-to doggy doctors, was able to get us in later that afternoon.  Our vet and her assistant promptly got us into an exam room at the appointed time and did their thing.  Perhaps it was the adrenaline of being in the exam room with other barking dogs and animals nearby or the rectal thermometer, but perking up and feeling better amazingly ensued.  (Duncan, that is. Although I did ease up when I reminded myself that the thermometer was likely not for me). Some additional poking and prodding (of Duncan) and a couple prescriptions - - including a refill for another one of our pampered pooches - - and we were out the door. We have always been very happy with ABA's doctors and staff.  They always do a thorough and caring exam and give good information and advice. Also, I believe their fees and medication costs are very reasonable. For Duncan's exam and the three medications, the bill was less than $75. I wish we could take our kids there. I noticed that most of the reviews were dog reviews so as a cat (and turtle)owner I thought I would put my two cents in. I moved here eight years ago and brought my pets to a Breed Apart at the recommendation of my sister and my mom, (owners of five cats and a dog between them), because they highly recommended them. I have to say I haven't been disappointed. They were very caring and went out of their way to make special considerations for my mom who was very elderly. In those eight years one of my moms and one of my cats became very sick and had to be put down. In my moms case they came in on a Sunday on short notice when they were closed when my moms cat was suffering with seizures and dying. They were very compassionate as if we and the cat were a member of the family. In my cats case he was young and suddenly came down with lymphoma and got very sick quickly. They, as someone else said, laid out the situation and all of my options in a kind manner but without sugar coating them which made the bad situation easier to deal with. Currently I have a 21.5 year old cat and they are very good at weighing risk vs benefit as to whether to bring her in or spare her the stress of a visit. They trust my assessment of her (as I must be doing something right)and will take time to discuss things over the phone with me as I treat her at home with meds and subcutaneous IV fluids for her mild kidney failure and arthritis. I have dealt with all three doctors as I usually just ask for the next available appointment and I have  the utmost trust in all three of them as well as their staff. Oh, and the turtle. I only had to bring one in once because I suspected pneumonia. While not specialists the doctor I saw (I forget which one) had done her homework before my appointment by consulting a specialist at UW as well as the internet refreshing herself in the latest in assessment and treatment of turtles with pneumonia. I cant say anything bad about them. Read Less

I took my dog to another vet for 2 years when I first moved here. The experience was always fine. Nothing bad at all, but nothing to be too excited about. I didn't really ask around, but I started hearing more and more about A Breed Apart. A few of my coworkers who are surgeons had dogs with serious problems requiring surgery. The surgeries were performed at A Breed Apart, and they couldn't be happier. They also noted how reasonable the pricing was for their dog's care. They didn't feel like they were getting fleeced at all.So when it was time for Jackson's annual checkup, we established care at A Breed Apart. They took fantastic care of his and answered all of my detailed laundry list of questions without hesitation. I was very happy with the switch, especially because I feel happy establishing care with vets that I would feel comfortable taking my dog in the case of an emergency. Read Less

The staff and vets at A breed apart are so nice, patient and friendly. We are first time dog owners and they take the time to explain everything to us.  We have a sensitive, high energy boxer who absolutely loves going to the vet because they take such great care of her. I would highly recommend all three vets at a breed apart.  We've seen every one of the vets since our dog has had allergic reactions or swallowed bathroom items and A Breed apart quickly got her in for an appt and resolved the issues.  We've used them for checkups, shots, emergency and spay and every visit has been the best! My dog is my life.  As evidenced by the pics I have representing me.  Have I become one of those parents that live vicariously through their children (aka, dogs?)... I may have...But I digress. This should give you some indication of the love I have for this canine creature, and hence there's a PRESSING need for making sure that she gets THE BEST ABSOLUTE treatment ever. And this is where the fantastic team of "A Breed Apart" comes in.  Completely friendly staff always treats Sofia like their own pup, cheering her on, giving her treats when they do any procedure, and frankly everytime she's sick or has some kind of infection (damn rabbit turds that Sofia loves to eat) they're more than ready to treat it.  Also, they're the only vets that I feel comfortable calling at 1 am because my dog is limping, and they don't' give me the indication that they're pissed off because I just woke them up on a Saturday night.I highly recommend them!!!
