General Info
Homeward Bound provides in–home pet euthanasia and hospice services for animal companions in Madison and surrounding south central Wisconsin. Our mission is to help pets and their families experience life limiting conditions and the dying process comfortably, with grace, dignity and surrounded by loved ones. In accordance with the family’s wishes, we provide options for care of animals where medical treatments have been exhausted or can provide little to no further benefit. We help educate, guide and support you and your family through this transition until death occurs naturally or euthanasia is chosen.

Words could never express how gentle, tender, and loving Dr. Kristi was with our best buddy, Bubba. Her heartfelt caring and compassion made his final moments with us a profoundly moving and beautiful experience. I could live 9 lifetimes and never be able to thank her enough for all that she did to make Bubba’s passage from this world so incredibly inspirational. As unbelievable as it may sound, Bubba even showed up the following morning to let us know that he had found his way to the Rainbow Bridge, and would be waiting for us <3

Dr. Kristi is an unbelievable human being. She has a heart of gold for what she does. She has definitely found her niche in life. She helped us send our 14.5 year old lab over the rainbow bridge so peacefully and comfortably. So glad we chose Dr. Kristi to help. She is so caring, loving, compassionate, and much much more! She gave us as much time as we needed with our old girl before moving on. I definitely recommend Homeward Bound for anyone looking to give your pet peace and comfort at home to pass.

Dr. Kristi Arnquist is wonderful. When I called her to discuss making arrangements for my two 15 year old Shih-Tzus, she was so kind and helpful. She even called me a week after our initial phone conversation to see how I was doing. (After meeting with our primary vet, I had decided they were doing well enough to postpone the decision for a while. Dr. Kristi was very happy for me, and completely supportive.)Her website has a helpful quality of life questionnaire here: journeyspet.com/quality-…. I found this very helpful.A year later, my dogs were really struggling, so I called Dr. Kristi again. She remembered talking with me, and was terrific. In the end, Dr. Kristi was out of town volunteering when the time came to finally put them to sleep. However, she put me in touch with Dr. Katie Hilst and Dr. Catie Hawkins of Journeys Home, who were wonderful too. (Dr. Catie came to our house, and did such a nice job.) Dr. Kristie cared and took the time to make sure my dogs and I were taken care of, even if she wasn't being compensated. Her sensitivity, generosity, and kind heart are remarkable. I would absolutely recommend her if you are struggling like I was. Dr. Kristi is an angel.

Dr. Kristi was an absolutely beautiful person to work with as we helped our furry family member pass from this life to his next adventure. When our beloved Gus couldn't go on, we wanted to make sure he'd be as comfortable as possible. I would never, ever, ever put a pet down any other way after this experience. Dr. Kristi was so sweet...
When our beloved Gus couldn't go on, we wanted to make sure he'd be as comfortable as possible. I would never, ever, ever put a pet down any other way after this experience. Dr. Kristi was so sweet and comforting. She was able to understand what we needed when I was so overwhelmed with grief that I could barely talk. Not to mention that she was able to come to our house on a Sunday evening when most other Vets would not be available. Being at home put us and Gus at ease. I'm not sure I could have handled the drive to and from a Vet's office.She checked in day after to see how the family was doing, knowing that we had taken the loss so hard. She really is such a sweet lady, which is exactly what we needed given the circumstances. She also makes sure that you know exactly what is going on at all times. Honestly, you'd be hard pressed to work find a reason to give Dr.. Kristi anything but 5 stars.

We were so pleased with how Kristi helped us through losing our girl, Buddi. She was warm, compassionate, patient and caring in everything she did for us. It was hard enough to have to say goodbye but Kristi's very personal touch was comforting. I would highly recommend her services. Madison is lucky to have her.
