I previously wrote a 5-star review for Dr Pike (no longer there), and now add my 5-star review for Dr Collins. Amazing vet! My baby, Mavi, broke a canine tooth a few months ago while we were living in DC. Her vet there did not feel up for surgery on such a tooth, but planned to send us to a specialist. Before that happened, however, her blood work showed very elevated liver enzymes, which made it too unclear whether she was safe for surgery. After a few inconclusive-but-traumatic tests, I decided to put everything on hold until we could get back to Sauk Point. Jumping ahead, Dr Collins did feel comfortable doing surgery on sweet Mavi. She explained the risks (of anesthesia on an 11.5-yr-old significantly overweight doggie with undiagnosed liver disease), but also how she would minimize them. I was allowed to stay with Mavi right until they were ready to operate, which I think greatly eased her fears. Sweet Mavi also seemed to like Dr Collins, and was nosing her for affection during the preliminary exam (though she's generally terrified of vets). During surgery, Dr Collins learned from the x-rays that the canine tooth actually was NOT causing any problems right now!, but some other teeth were. So she spared Mavi the difficult recovery that would come with removing such a large deeply-rooted tooth, and took care of the pressing issues instead. They knew how worried I was, and called as soon as Mavi was starting to wake up, which was only a couple hours after I left her. And within about 30h of surgery, Mavi is feeling better than ever!! She actually *sprinted* after a bunny at the park last night. In 100-degree heat, no less. She hasn't sprinted after anything in months! There are still health issues waiting to become a problem, but for now, sweet Mavi is feeling great and ready to have an amazing summer. We are extremely grateful to Dr Collins. Read Less
