Port Cities Animal Hospital

Manitowoc, Wisconsin
General Info
At the core of the local pet community, Port Cities Animal Hospital is renowned for its thorough and considerate approach to animal care. Port Cities Animal Hospital helps Manitowoc families and other close regions in Wisconsin to schedule emotionally paced appointments that help maintain consistency, decrease pet disturbances, and enhance wellness. Animals enter whenever they feel like it any time during the visit. Staff observe how individuals move through the space, note the time taken to settle, and identify which cues from touch, sound, or scent trigger responses. Examinations cover hydration levels, skin elasticity, limb movement range, dental health, coat condition and weight balance. Thorough discussions focus on recent changes in sleeping patterns, feeding habits and overall household energy. Port Cities Animal Hospital provides a wide range of services including vaccinations, blood work, mobility care, dental planning, preventive guidance, surgical support, and long-term care discussions. Services are provided either gradually or entirely, depending on the animal’s sensory needs. Some parents opt for multiple brief sessions staged at different days while others go for a single intense session that includes follow-up resources on how to care for the infant at home. Each plan stems from the family’s ability to execute it daily and considers issues such as the emotional burden on the caregiver, pet resilience, transportation availability, and typical household scheduling habits. Appointments are also a great time to ask questions, take side notes, and share stories—especially if you are a new parent or are managing a chronic condition. Port Cities Animal Hospital helps pet families in Manitowoc and surrounding Wisconsin areas incorporate veterinary care into their lives as a natural rhythm rather than something to be feared, so they can find opportunities for connection and establish wellness behaviors that last. The services offered by the practice include Pocket Pet Care, Boarding, Physical Therapy, Diagnostics, Wellness Exams and many more. These services support pets throughout their lives, from routine check-ups to advanced medical care. Pet owners value the team’s expertise and the way they communicate with compassion and respect. They also praise the clinic for clearly explaining medical decisions to clients. The staff seeks to develop relationships by offering consistent and attentive service, whether it’s caring for an older pet or addressing an urgent situation. The clinic also plays a significant role in educating owners and advising on preventive animal health. Port Cities Animal Hospital's participation in community events and associations fosters responsible pet ownership. Both new and returning customers appreciate the professional staff and service, which continues to advance with modern veterinary techniques.

I've been taking my pets to Port Cities for over 20 years and have appreciated their staff and services. However, Friday morning I called to try to get an appointment for a kitten who wandered into our yard (and my kids and husband decided to adopt). I don't want to keep the kitten locked in a carrier, but until it is checked for ear mites, fleas, worms, etc., I don't want to let it run through my house. I was told they are scheduling 10 days out on new kitten exams. This seemed unreasonable to me. I was told they had some emergency times available but those needed to be kept open for emergencies. I asked her what my options were until then and she said that she would call if anything opened up. I stated that I would call another vet and thankfully, that vet was able to get me a 1:00 pm appointment THAT DAY even though I'm a new client. Sorry Port Cities, I'll be taking my pets to the other vet going forward. Read Less

Last week we found a starving and shivering Siamese kitten on our back porch.  We already have two sweet tabbies; but we also have big hearts.  We couldn't get ourselves to ignore or to take the kitten to the shelter.  So we're giving the kitten a shot at happiness.  We decided to try a new vet; and went to Port Cities.  Their attitude, when we walked in the door, made us feel very welcomed.  They oohed and awed at the new kitten (he is really cute).  We wanted a vet to check out the newcomer before exposing him to our other cats.  "Bandit" (we thought about "Groot") got a full check up and needed shots.  Angela, the vet we saw, had a wonderful manner with Bandit; and made the visit as gentle as possible.  Still a lot of hissing going on at our house; but things are settling down as I type.  Bottom line, this is a great veterinarian clinic to take your pet.  If you want to take your furry friend for any medical reason, I highly recommend Port Cities.  They treat your precious pet as the loved one it is; and not as a mere cash flow unit. Just took my little dog for a physical. Dr Hauser came into the room, and ranted about my dog had to be on heart worm medication. Not a good morning or any kind of greeting. She gave her a distemper shot and that was it. Did not listen to her heart or lungs, check her anywhere, or check her ears. The whole visit was about heart worm Medication. I have had nothing but good luck with dr. Hauser. First started going there with my three year old cat who ended having an untreatable organ disease. Dr. Hauser held my hand and watched this adult cry like a baby having to put my kitty down. As someone I had just met, and as a dr., that is exactly why we continue to go there for all three of our current kitties. Read Less

Worst experience ever with a vet, needless to say I will never take my little dog back there. Wouldn't even answer my questions about anything. Cost me $106 for ranting! We have never been talked to so disrespectful by any vetinarian. Read Less

Dr. Angela Madden-Heinzen is without a doubt, hands down the best veterinarian. When our dog bloated and needed emergency surgery on New Year's Eve, she had our girl into surgery within 15-30 minutes. After surgery was done and our dog became very ill, she was constantly on the phone with me guiding me through every obstacle. Our dogs will never see anyone else. Thanks for saving our "queen" Roxy and taking wonderful care of both our girls! Read Less
