I just changed vets because my cat was traumatized here so badly when he received a shot. The vet and the assistant were so rough with him that even I couldn't get near him for almost five minutes. I have never had an animal traumatized at a vet's office and it won't happen again. Both vets are impersonal. The people at the front desk are great. Read Less

An acquaintance going through a rough patch in his life asked us to care for his elderly dog. It turned out that the dog was in immediate need of major dental care. We got in for an exam the same day we called. Once he saw how bad the teeth were, Dr. Rausch juggled the schedule around in order to get Brinkley in the next day for surgery. They removed 14 very decayed teeth, and now a couple days after surgery, he is a different dog! I just want to thank everyone at McFarland Animal Hospital their willingness to go the extra mile, and for for the kindness they showed a miserable, sick little dog :) We are new customers and we couldn't be happier with the service we have received. We have been taking our pets to the McFarland Animal hospital since we moved to McFarland. The vets and staff are helpful and kind. We have to have two cats put down since we started using their services and they were respectful and caring. If you live in the area I would highly recommend them. Read Less

Horrendous. I brought my cat in because she got tangled up in her collar and was bleeding. I called the hospital and they got me in within the hour. When we met with the vet, he said "oh, I thought it was much worse" said where he *thought* wear the cut was, and that was that. He didn't take her temperature, prescribe her anything, or give us any more information than that. Oh, and for him to tell us where he thought the cut was cost us $40. Do not go here. I will be taking her to our regular vet place for a follow up. Read Less

I have been nothing short of impressed with every dealing I have had with McFarland Animal Hospital. We had a very sick kitty for the past month and I was always able to get an appointment when needed (even at very short notice). Both Doctors Raasch and Yackel are very caring vets, and have both taken the time out of their day to call me personally and answer questions about my kitty's health. The vet techs and front desk staff are always friendly and professional, the offices are always very clean, and it is overall a very wonderful animal hospital. We will definitely be bringing our new kittens in for their regular vet visits when we are lucky enough to get them. Read Less

I have been taking Rascal to McFarland Animal Hospital since we brought him home 5 years ago. Although he is not a happy camper when we visit there, I am very happy with the service that the staff provides for my little guy. The doctors, techs, and ALL the staff at mcfarland animal hospital are AMAZING! Our teddy bear Sophie spent a week there after a life threatening kidney issue, and they took excellent care of her, kept me in the loop daily, and let me and my family visit her twice a day. Really, they deserve 0 stars, but that's not an option. Long story short: they ripped the tail off of my young rabbit (yes bleeding & bone showing) and proceeded to charge me. Quite frankly, I've had some bad vet experiences, but this one takes the cake. Read Less

When I had a german shepherd, this is the place we would go. I went there for 14 years and never had a bad experience. Surgery, annual visits, kennel stays, all were great and best of all my pet was in a safe environment. The kennel is actually nice and quiet, not overly busy like some of the other places, which I think keeps the animal calmer. There are no outside dog runs from the kennel but its not set up to be. They have staff members that come in at night and early in the morning, all good. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.Read Less

We love this place! We have been struggling to find a vet that we feel comfortable with since we moved to the Madison area last April. I needed to get Chumley's nails cut in a hurry last week and this was the only placebi could find that would do them on a friday night. I was blown away by the love and attention they showed to him. I went home and told my boyfriend that I found our new vet. We just went back tonight for his shots and the staff was amazing!!!! They don't rush you through, they took the time to answer our questions and concerns we had, and they gave us some good pointers. Easily the worst vet I've dealt with. Highly recommend you find somewhere else. They also canceled our holiday boarding reservation without telling us. We made an appointment 3 months in advance and called 3 weeks prior to verify the reservation was still active. When we showed up to drop the dog off they were very rude and unapologetic and we had to scramble to find a different boarder on Christmas. Kennels are small, in a windowless room, and do not have access to outside. When the vet removed our dog's stitches he was very rough with the dog and he left some in. The stitches became inflamed and infected and delayed healing. Read Less

When we moved to the area, we had a geriatric cat and geriatric dog. The cat was having "old cat" problems and the veterinary staff helped us through our options for treatment and never pressured us one way or the other. When he passed, the were kind, considerate and helpful in our choices. The same for our dog, who is on a special diet. They always have his food in stock. The boarding services are great. We tried a large kennel, but I think it wore our old guy out the last time. The large kennel is good, but it is our backup if McFarland Animal Hospital is booked up. Read Less

I had a dog put down & Dr. Scarlett and her assistant came to our house so the dog wouldn't be frightened, plus I got to hold him in my arms until he took his last breath. When I moved out of state I called Dr, Raasch for help with 3 week old abandoned kittens and he didn't hesitate to answer all my questions! He has nuetered and spayed my last three dogs plus cleaned their teeth with no problems whatsoever! Read Less
