Dr. Janssen is the most wonderful compassionate vet I have ever met. He helped me and my dogs (Winston, Houston and Oscar) through the best of times and the worst possible times for a pet owner. Excellent service and one-on-one care with the doctor and your pet. Dr. Janssen always takes time to explain any issues so that you can make the best decision for your pet. Convenient appointments and they are willing to work you in if they can if you are having an emergency or other urgent issue. I took my cat in for shots and a check-up. One of the things the doctor noted was "ropey intestines." No action was recommended. 1 week later she went to Milwaukee to live with her dad, and within 10 days she had lost a pound (she started at only 5.6 lbs), couldn't walk and was severely dehydrated. He took her to his vet, who diagnosed her with a critical lack of motility in the gut, and a dangerously low temperature. He ran a full panel, put her on fluids, took an ultrasound and x-rays. She spent the night in intensive care, in critical condition, and died the next day. I'm having trouble understanding how this was not detected 2 weeks ago. I also have trouble with the fact that, despite the fact that the vet in Milwaukee called Dr. Janssen to review what he had found, and communicated that she was in critical condition, the Dr. called me a week later to ask how she was doing. I will be looking for another vet. Read Less

First time visiting Dr. Janssen and was immediately impressed with his thoroughness and willingness to educate us as the owners in a caring and compassionate way in wanting what was best for our pet. His staff is also very personable and friendly. All the rooms were neat and clean and no signs or smells of any past patients Best part, it all came at a very reasonable price! With a 7 year old beagle bulldog mix (Jack) in my life, finding the perfect vet is vitally important. I'm glad to have been taking Jack to Dr. Janssen's clinic since 2008. The vet tech that we normally see is Shiloh, who is fantastic, and you can tell she really loves animals. Jack's had to have a couple of operations, and I always feel like he's in great hands when we leave him with her.Dr. Janssen is friendly and thorough, and I definitely trust him -- so important, after all you wouldn't take your kid to a pediatrician you didn't trust, and I don't see that your family's furry addition should be treated any differently! Why not five stars? I do think that Janssen's clinic is a little pricey. Not extravagant, but I'm sure that you could save a buck by going elsewhere. For me, the level of care makes it worth the price. I highly recommend them. Read Less

We purchased a Yorkshire Terrier in early 2011. We had recently moved to Madison and we weren't familiar with veterinary clinics. I though well it would be nice to have something close to home. So I searched online and found Janssen Clinic. What a gem of a place. The staff has been incredibly friendly, everyone ALWAYS has a smile. I've always dealt with the two vet technicians Kris & Shilo. Those two women truly love what they're doing and seeing them care for animals reassures me that they honestly care about your furry friend. Just visited and had a really good experience.  The vet technician (who came from the Chicago and whose name I forgot - sorry!) was fantastic! Very nice and listened to all my concerns (I don't take my cat to the vet much so I wait and lump it all together). The doctor was very nice and very thorough - went down the checklist and checked everything. They got 4 stars instead of 5 because they made me feel a little guilty like I should be doing more. I can't afford everything they recommended and I think they were going above and beyond with the recommendations otherwise, very good experience. Read Less
