Veterinary Emergency Service treated us well and compassionately. That included in how they relayed the terrible news that resulted in us saying goodbye to Georgia, our beloved Golden Retriever. It was a brutally sad day, but VES did an excellent job of explaining the diagnosis and prognosis, and then giving us time alone with Georgia to regain our composure and make the best decisions for her. After making our decisions they also let us stay in the private room for over an hour in order to give our adult kids time to travel from Sun Prairie and Mazomanie to say an emotional goodbye to Georgia and be there when she was euthanized. Avoid this hospital like the plague. When you get there they will refuse to treat or help your pet untill you cough up $1000 or so. If you don have that they will insist you apply for a loan or beg you family or friends for $. All this while you pet is bleeding out or dieng from illness. On top of this they will then do a crappy job of treating you pet and completely miss something important and you will have to come back. Once they reexamine you pet they will promptly demand more $ to fix their mistake they missed the 1st time and make you feel like a jerk for questioning them. Communication with them was fantastic. My dog has a mystery spine injury that was very scary and nerve-wracking to deal with. They were very on top of it, gave me different options and recommendations, gave me high and low estimates of the costs which stayed accurate, and called me anytime there was an update. I ultimately transfed to the UW veterinarian to see a specialist, but would definitely recommend them in an emergency, and grateful for the support they gave me during a difficult time. Read Less

Our 2.5 yr old lab swallowed likely underwear and couldn't get it out on his own. We came in on a Sunday and he ended up needing surgery to remove the fabric from his stomach and intestines. The surgery was in the middle of the night and we were incredibly scared and sad. It has been a really tough and emotional 4-5 days, but throughout our whole experience every staff member we encountered was so kind and wonderful. They treated him as though he was their own, giving him snuggles and trying anything they possibly could to help him gain his appetite back. We felt very comfortable that he was in wonderful care. He ended up staying 4 days to recover as his system just took a while to start up again. We are so thankful we chose VES. We are now home and crossing our fingers he never does anything like this again, but if he does we know where to go! Read Less

I could not be more pleased with the staff and the care our littlest family member has been receiving. Our little kitty got out of the house and was hit by a car. We drove almost 2 hours with her and showed up at VES in the middle of the night, heartbroken and scared. Everyone we encountered was so incredibly kind, they didn't give us false hope but they also were very reassuring that they would do everything they could to make it so our little kitty named Bunny could come home to us. I just got the news that Bunny will make a full recovery, this is entirely due to the incredible staff at this facility. Their knowledge, experience and kindness saved out little Bunny. I hope we never need emergency vet services again but I know that this will be the only place I will ever take our pets. Edited to add- the follow up calls from staff are incredible! Bunny is a Siamese Manx and has a ton of personality. The staff had obviously been interacting with her quite a bit since she's been there, as they were familiar with and reported some of her goofy mannerisms. It is so hard to have a family member far away, knowing you can't do anything for them. Hands down the best place I could of brought my baby. My one and a half year old German Shepherd/ healer mix had been vomiting the past 2 weeks. We got send to the Middleton Emergency Center for animals by her vet in Wisconsin Dells. After test and an ultrasound sounds they helped us figure out what was wrong. 2 days post her ultrasound sound, we just received a call form Middleton with them asking how Maya was doing. Our Boxer, Rocky, broke his leg in February. Great staff all around: From the vet techs to the surgeons - all are great to work with, empathetic, and understanding. Costs for tests were estimated accurately (albeit expensive, but a 70lb dog needing emergency/large scale medical intervention is going to be expensive). I was disappointed with the limited availability to schedule followup visits at the clinic with the surgeons. They do not have evening hours and no weekend hours for follow ups - I had to take time off to get there and back. My only request would be for the surgeons to become more flexible in appointments to owners that have 8-5 jobs (and may even need to drive an hour to get there). All around, satisfied with the exceptional care and staff, and struggling to schedule followups. Read Less

Make sure to inquire costs upfront as they will not disclose costs before running tests. Ask for clarification as they will be vague. Took my cat in for a routine visit in order to get a prescription refill. Head Vet failed to disclose cost of visit before running tests. As I've been routinely bringing my cat for the last year when he was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease. I presumed it was the same test being done from his last visit. The bill was almost 4 times the amount from previous visit. Despite several attempts to resolve billing concerns in person and over the phone, they have no desire to work with us despite the confusion of the visit. I am greatly disappointed that I will no longer be bringing my cat to this clinic as MOST of the staff knows my cat and takes great care of him. I will have to find another location to get his weekly prescription refill to ensure he's comfortable for the remainder of his short life. My boy is worth every penny. However when I spend an average for $40 every week and a half for his prescription, an ethical clinic would work with their clients to resolve legitimate billing misunderstanding. Read Less

I was referred here when my little guy had a blockage. They took care of him, answered my questions, and even came in under the estimated cost. As a relatively new pet owner, I didn't know what to expect. However, they eased my mind as much as possible given the situation. I really appreciated their effort to try non-evasive measures first before jumping to more intensive interventions. I am so glad they were there for me when Bucky and I needed them. Brought my beautiful Kitty Presley in over the weekend. He ended up having fractured ribs on both sides. They worked so hard taking care of him and making sure we had all of our options. They were very up front with cost with us, and held nothing back which I greatly appreciated. They called multiple times a day and had a Doctor check in with me on his status. He is home and is still a very happy and a very lucky Kitty. I would recommend this place a thousand times over!!!!
