My dog developed a mass on her ear and a few other places that required surgery quickly. Dr. Mueller was able to fit her 3 hour surgery in the next day. The doctors appreciated my cost concerns and took a very balanced approach. The vet techs even let me borrow a charging cord for my phone because I needed to keep on top of other family issues. Getting an appointment is pretty effortless, but the availability is usually limited. The vet techs are pretty gentle with the animals and seem knowledgeable when you ask them questions. Alta View took care of my Frankie today. She desperately needed a dental. Dr. Mueller answered all my questions and called me when she was out of anesthesia. Dr. Mueller took the time to let me know how the dental procedure went. Olivia was so nice to Frankie and said she is her favorite! kept her warm and calm, a very caring person. Our dog had an appointment here & was muzzled due to her breed. They applied multiple & several different muzzels due to inexperience, even asking my wife to put it on at times. They didn't know which size to use, etc. & our dog was taken to a hidden exam room. My wife could hear her yelping and it is on record. After the testing, we took a swab of her & had it tested at a private lab. She obtained a bacterial infection due to unsanitary conditions & we tried to treat it holistically as we thought we trusted this establishment & if hollistic measures wouldn't work, they would take ownership & help our dog at no charge for their violations. My wife called and spoke to a doctor which is on record of her stating they don't guarantee washing muzzels after each dog and had to check with a manager and would receive a call back. The doctor then recanted later on voicemail on record that each muzzle is sanitized and we would be charged for treatment. The receptionist, Lori, laughed at my wife which is on record. Extreme unprofessionalism & disgust. Untrustworthy and we are stunned. We are highly educated and thankfully have resources to examine establishments. When we first got our dog we started going here off of a recommendation of some friends. Lou, our dog, is almost 6 years old and we have been going here for 6 years now. When our dog was a puppy and got into mischief the vets have always been helping and accommodating as far as talking to me on the phone, taking emergency appointments, and making sure I always felt comfortable with whatever treatments or procedures my dog has needed. The staff is always friendly and refer to me as "Lou's mom". I've recommended this place to many of my friends for their pets. It helps me to know that one of the main vets that we see has two dogs who are the same breed as mine, so she was able to give us some great tips about exercise, care, and grooming. Read Less

I began bringing my two dogs to Alta view after the last vet clinic I had disappointed me with their front desk receptionist and high prices. Plus the other vet clinic misdiagnosed my dogs eye condition. By luck, I stumbled upon Alta view and have been extremely happy with their clinic. All the staff are friendly, they clearly love animals, the doctors are very knowledgeable and experienced. They quickly diagnosed my dogs eye condition and helped me to treat his eye without expensive eye removal until this year when it had to come out. They made every accommodation possible for my dog, including buying him diapers after surgery. The clinic kept my bill with surgery, medications, overnight stay, collar, etc... Way under what other clinics were giving me as estimates! In one case $1200 cheaper!!!!!! I appreciate all the vets and vet techs here! My fiance and I have always been SO pleased with Alta View. His first dog always went to Alta View so when we rescued our two dogs last year we immediately knew that Alta View was the place to go! It is so comforting as an over-protective puppy-parent to take my babies to a Vet that I know genuinely cares about my dogs, Bandit & Willis Vega. We have had appointments with each of the three vets and each one takes the time to get to know our dogs and calm them down before moving forward with whatever we are in for. As my fiance and I prepare for our wedding coming up this October, I have to admit that one of my biggest worries was what we were going to do with our dogs (my babies!) while we celebrate our union and enjoy a short honeymoon. We searched low and high finding only outrageous prices at sketchy facilities. When I found out that Alta View does boarding I honestly shed a tear of joy. Not only would my dogs be looked after in a familiar place, but by people I know genuinely care about my babies. While I admit I'll still miss them dearly, and will probably call daily to check-in on them (sorry in advance Alta View Staff!!), I no longer have a feeling of worry in the pit of my gut. I know I'm getting long-winded (I apologize), but there is one final point I would like to make about Alta View. While I love my dogs to the point where money doesn't matter if it's a choice between price and quality care, it is wonderful to know that I can get the highest quality of care at Alta View for incredibly reasonable prices. We bit off a lot by adopting two puppies at once, but we didn't break the bank or go into debt when it came time for shots, check-ups, and spaying/neutering for each dog at Alta View... And when I called multiple times a day to check on my dogs when they were spayed/neutered, staff took the time to explain every detail to me about my dogs and assure me that they were doing well. I've been a client with Alta View over the past 25+ years with all my cats. I'm writing this review because on 5/26/15, we noticed a sore on my cat that wasn't evident the night before, therefore, whatever it was progressed rather quickly. My husband called at 11:15am to arrange for an appt, however, we couldn't bring him in until Thursday 5/28. I really thought it was a big concern so I contacted them back at around 12:30pm and asked if there was some way to see my cat that day. The receptionist said she would have to talk to the vet and give us a call back.  I got home from work at 4:00pm and still there was no phone call back from the clinic. At this time the sore progressed to an abscess about 5-6 in diameter in size. It was red and yellow, obviously showing the sign of infection. The clinic finally called at around 4:30 and said they couldn't get him in so in the meantime, buy an E collar so he doesn't continue to bother it. I called them back within 10 mins pleading for them to let us come in. I explained that within a 4 hr time frame, the sore worsened severely. I explained the color and size, how it definitely had fluid built up. The receptionist asked me if it had a smell, which no it didn't but clearly was infected. She then said I'm sorry, get an E collar so that he doesn't continue to irritate it and we will see him on Thursday. I told her I will obviously have to take him elsewhere since you refuse to see him as an urgent situation. She again apologized.We took my cat to Advanced Animal Hospital, who graciously got us in for an appt the next morning, which was OK with me since it was now 5:30pm and too late in the evening. I knew he was going to be OK since he wasn't lethargic and was still eating and drinking. I also didn't want to pay the high cost of an emergency service unless he turned for the worse. So fortunately he was OK through the night, however, in the morning the abscess was now pretty much black in color and very warm to the touch. He made it into the vet on the morning of 5/27, in which the vet took one look at it and couldn't believe that Alta View wouldn't see him as an urgent situation. She barely touched the abscess and it broke open. You can imagine what came out of this abscess plus the smell in which the receptionist from Alta View asked about, was definitely present.They had to put him under, lacerate it, clean it out, debride the dead skin and place stitches. This was a pretty severe infection that could have lead to something unimaginable if we waited another day to take him to Alta View.  He was sent home with pain meds and antibiotics for the next two weeks. We will need to return for the stitches to be removed. I can't thank Advanced Animal Hospital enough for helping us out.So bottom line, I've been a client for a long time. I would have thought they set aside time to allow for urgent/emergent situations. There has been a few other incidents with Alta View that I considered going else where over, one being that my favorite vet that treated my cats for years left and the clinic didn't feel the need to share that with me until I asked for her in particular because I wasn't happy with the current vet that kept seeing my cat. She wasn't specialized in treating cats with diabetes and once prescribed too much insulin for my cat. My favorite vet caught it and had to confront her about it. After my favorite vet left, i had no choice to see whoever was available because my cat was really sick. Needless to say, due to the lack of knowledge of the vet, I ended up having to put my cat to sleep because she developed a tumor that was not detected in previous exams. I could share a few other issues if your interested, message me.The quality of this clinic has diminished and I'm sorry I didn't leave a long time ago. The fact that I never took my 2 other cats there after my one was put to sleep is because of the lack of trust and faith that they would provide adequate treatment. But when my cat developed the sore this week, I thought that since the clinic merged with another clinic, quality of care might have improved. I was obviously wrong! Read Less

I want to start by saying that this is by far the best Vet Clinic around. I've been to several different clinics and i just could not find one that cared about my pets and how i felt. And this vet clinic is all loving, caring, respectful, and understanding! I couldn't ask for more. The doctors are just amazing they help me around my budget, yet still giving my pets the care they need. I feel comfortable here. I moved from IL away from a wonderful veterinarian. Finding one in the Milwaukee area that seemed to care as much as the old vet did was hard. We found Alta View and I was happy. Granted I was not used to the "office visit" fees (as I have 4 dogs) but I understand the concept. The prices are truely reasonable and the doctors are all wonderful and really seem to care about what I feel is important for my dogs. Not the attitude "I'm just gonna do it cause I can". When I call I have ALWAYS been able to talk to a doctor, what a concept I cannot even get that attention with my physician. We recently lost one of our dogs and the care and compassion they showed and still are showing is a wonderful comfort. We have been bring our Calico since we got her as a kitten. After today, I'm not sure will be bring her again. I admit our cat does not like people and this behavior only started after we got her declawed (boyfriends/ apartments call, not mine). It seems every time we bring her for an exam the staff although friendly to me, and my partner, they act like our cat is satin. Rather then completing the exam in front of me, having me help hold and pet my cat. They wrapped her in a towel and took her into a backroom. I was left in an exam room hearing my poor baby being attack in the ""back"". After what seemed like forever Dr. Malueg return and admitted that they were able to give my cat her yearly shots (although she admitted not in the correct manner due to my cat's temperament). Then admitted she was not able to complete the exam because my cat was hissing. They then asked me to leave out the back way where they charged me for the exam. You know the exam this doctor just admitted to not completing. I was frustrated because through out the exam I express great concern for my cat behavior and how she appears to have behavioral problems around strangers. They did hand me a card for an dog trainer, but It really hurt my feeling. It's not about the money but respect. How do I know that my cats behavior is not a symptom for something else, or something we can work on. I felt like they didn't care and they just wanted my money. Read Less

The prices are not so expensive and extremely reasonable, i trust them 100% with my pets. They take the time to help me find a solution, and they do everything possible within my budget. Of course i understand i can't always afford some treatment or surgery, but i don't blame them, it is a business like everywhere else. Only difference is that the staff at the clinic is extremely friendly and caring, there is no doubt about that. Another plus is that they often have specials or discounts on like dental which is a plus for my pocket and pets dental health. I absolutely love this clinic and the staff is amazingly nice, everyone single person working there is just great in their own way! I have no complaints on them they are excellent, but they unfortunately work for a women who doesn't care about our pets and only is interested in money! She over charges, & don't offer any kind of help with payments or something. She is rude. I was quoted a while ago $1,200 for surgery on my pet and i was willing to do it but because of money problems i was hoping i can do some kind of payment plan or something, anything, but their manager would not help me out, and she did this every time i needed help, I always paid anyways but surgery i did not do, my pet passed about. One of the best qualities of this vet clinic is its doctors! As it should be i say! The doctor I see is one of the most caring and in tune vets I have ever met. Needless to say this woman listens and chats with me about my pet and actually remembers me on my return visit! She gives my pet true care and concern. Honestly my vet is more caring and concerned about my pets well being then my own MD is with me and mine! All the doctors on staff at Alta View are great!
