Had a great first visit when we first adopted our puppy. The owner and his asst are kind and seem to love animals. In our 3 visits since I would say honestly that the experience was not acceptable. Despite having appointments, we've sat for up to an hour waiting, part in the lobby and part in the exam room. The condition of the offices are very outdated and seem uncared for, with floor tiles pulling up and stained furniture. Our last visit was not scheduled but I did call ahead. Had I been told I'd be waiting for over one hour I would have scheduled a different appt. In all fairness, I didn't have an appt but it would have been courteous for them to let me know of a wait time like that. I received no updates during my wait...was just left sitting in the room for 45 minutes after waiting in the lobby for 15 minutes. The main doctor took her temperature after the hour wait but then left again to tend to other patients or people in the lobby so I waited another 10 minutes and couldn't stay any longer. Nice men but with so many options out there, I won't be returning. First appt was great but each since has been very frustrating in terms of how long it takes to be seen mostly. Extra kind Doctor and Staff. Very thorough pre surgery exam and directed me on steps necessary to best prepare my kitten for surgery. Post surgery I truly feel that my animal was given personalized attention at the clinic. She is home now, healthy, and I can tell she was subjected to love and had no trauma. Dr Sharma is an amazing vet! I was referred to him from a friend and continue to take my dogs to him even though he is pretty far from my house. I once took my dog to a groomer to get a bath and his nails clipped and was so nervous he bit the groomer. He needed his nails clipped badly, so I took him to Dr Sharma. As soon as we got there, my dog was so happy. He just sat for him and let him clip his nails, without anyone holding him down. Dr Sharma gives him hugs and kisses every time we visit! Read Less

Thank you for all your help with my cat, i'm actually surprised he was comfortable enough to come out of his cat carrier by himself. the last veterinarian had to drag them out by the scruff, but he walked out of his carrier while i was talking to the vet tech. I had to come here unexpectedly because my cat had a UTI and this place was the only place that could get me in the same day so that part was great. But everything about it was just sketchy and awkward. Every time the vet tech and vet would either come in or leave the evaluation room I was in they wouldn't close the door and my cat could have ran out if I didn't close it right away. Then the vet kept trying to convince me to get my cat declawed and said it was a "painless procedure". My cat is 3 and past the age that is recommended for that. The thermometer that he put in my cats rear didn't even get cleaned afterwards, he just put it back in the container on the counter. They also charged me $160 for the "exam", medication, and shots (don't even know what these were for). He just wrote down these numbers with out referencing any price log. Did he just pull these numbers out of his ass?? Very unsatisfied and would never go back. Read Less

I would not recommend this vet to anyone. We are now switching to a new vet. The vet overcharges everything, the facility is filthy and the care is not what we expected. We recently took our Frenchie in to get spayed and he explained that my dog has an infection and would need blood work and antibiotics which he also didn't explain would cost $300. The city animal hospital workers will do anything to make an extra buck! I regret ever going this vet and I will most definitely never be back! Read Less

People are nice here. Gentle and friendly with pets. However, they overcharge us for everything. The dr recommended we get his nails trimmed and told us he will trim them as if he was going to do it free of charge or as a common courtesy thing. He hurriedly clipped them, not looking to see where the blood vessels were first (our Frenchie has black nails) and ended up charing us $15 just for the nail clippings. He also added a whole bunch of other medications onto our bill, not even warning us about the extra charges. When my husband and I walked in we were anticipating on spending less than $60. We walked out of there spending $250. Today, we went in for our frenchies second series shot. The dr added a pack of heartgard medications (without telling us the price) for $125. After we walked out and got into the car, I looked online and turned out we could've ordered it straight from the website for $5 so I walked back in and asked for a refund. Read Less

This guy is a crook/thief/lier. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE. He gave my dog antibiotics for a rash or possible allergy. He sold me a bunch of extra crap that i can buy online for cheap. Charged me 285 to basically look at my dog. He did not diagnose him. And also he told me to cut his ears off and that he does this procedure in house. Dr. Sharma is the best!  We had a recent emergency on a weekend while out of town.  we called Dr. Sharma on a Saturday and he went way, way out of his way to help us out and save the dog, staying open to have the dog transported to his office, diagnosing him and keeping him for a few days after surgery for healing and observation - over a Holiday weekend.  He is our regular vet and we highly recommend him!  Prices are in line with similar services elsewhere, but personal attention and love of animal makes City Animal Hospital hands down the best option on the Northshore. Took my 9 year old cat to City Animal Hospital on Silver Spring and had a fine experience. The staff was welcoming and the nurse was very attentive and caring. Dr. Sharma was informative and kind. My cat has had some serious digestive issues, and while we await blood results I've been given some vitamin supplement liquid and another medication in the meantime. It can be hard to review a clinic when your animal is not doing well- medicine is not magic unfortunately, but the staff here at this clinic is wise and genuine. They also worked with me on my payment (I used Care Credit, though it has a low credit limit)- and even gave me 2 items (special food and a urine test) that I did not have to pay for at the time of this visit. I picked this clinic because it offers 24/hr emergency care as well as regular vet care- so I assumed that they may have experience with many types of medical concerns. I highly regret taking my cat, and best friend, here. The vet handled my adult cat WAY too aggressively. My cat is the sweetest, most loving cat in the world, in my 17 years with her, I have NEVER heard her growl at anyone, but she did at this vet. I did not feel satisfied with his answers to my questions and I feel like I had to ask the same questions over and over again to get a somewhat satisfactory answer. I feel like he did not give me all of my possible options for how to go about taking care of my sick kitty. I am absolutely horrified at how rough he was with her to get a urine sample (she had it done at other vets and was slightly uncomfortable, but nothing like the howling discomfort she experienced here). I am worried he may have injured or bruised her because she was having difficulty walking immediately after he handled her so roughly. I was absolutely mortified by this experience and was in tears by the time we got home. He charged me $300 for an exam and blood work. I was not allowed to be with her while they were drawing blood (this is very unusual for a vet clinic, every other place I€ve been to, they do everything right in front of me, even let me hold her, and explain to me everything that is going on), which took 20 minutes and he handed her back to me with a shaved neck and alcohol AND BLOOD all over her fur. I do not trust this doctor and don€t know if I can forgive myself for not taking my cat and walking right out of that clinic after seeing how rough he was with her initially. This visit also didn€t even address the issue my cat was having, or any issue. I feel like he abused my cat and stole my money. I hate this place. I will never return. Read Less

We have a new rescue mixed breed puppy (well not so new now) who just came of age to get all of his shots.  Dr Sharma was gentle with the pup and accommodating to us (and our wallets).  He was able to do what we needed done, over the course of several weeks to assure our pup was up to date and that we weren't being overtaxed financially during the process.  He explained why he was giving each shot as well as the cost prior to performing any procedures.  Dr Sharma and his staff were warm, welcoming, and just so friendly.  We'll continue to utilize his service whenever we need animal care. I get that the atmosphere isn't warm and fuzzy but sincere people over fancy brochures.. I know what I need from a vet. They're good people, I think they care about they do. My dog Lucky is 13 years old and has been a patient of Dr. Sharma for about 4 years. Lucky was bit by an insect and started to tear the hair out at the sight of the bite.
