My regular clinic was too busy to see my dog on a Saturday and recommended St Paul's. I was impressed and have since switched vets. My 7 year pit struggled with a number of issues, weight and allergies at the top of the list. Not only did they fix his tooth problem, the vet took one look and recommended a thyroid test that came back as problematic. Something my old vet never mentioned. They also recommended a new allergy medicine. Flash forward 5 months and he has lost 25 pounds (thyroid meds) and his allergies are finally under control. I am blessed to have found them. Read Less

I can’t say enough good things about the place. I live in Kenosha and my dog needed emergency surgery to remove a foreign object that he had swallowed. All the vets in my area would not see him unless we paid an outrageous amount of money. Feeling hopeless that I couldn’t save my dog, I came across St. Paul. They not only said they would see him ASAP, they did not change an unreasonable price for the surgery. The staff as soon as you walk in were so welcoming. We didn’t wait long until the doctor seen us. He looked at his x-rays sent from the previous vet, examined him and told me exactly what he would do within the surgery. An overwhelming sense of relief came over me as I handed my dog to him. I recommend this vet to everyone I talk to now! Read Less

I’ve been going to St Paul for various things over the years and have always had a great experience. The doctors are very informative of the treatment my pet needs and they’re always up front with the cost as they go(I do ask ahead). I’m also a fan of the fact it’s a walk-in clinic. Read Less

A wonderful clinic recommended by a colleague more than 10 years ago. I’ve brought all my dogs here since and have always found the doctors and office staff to be caring, compassionate and very professional. My favorite thing about this clinic aside from reasonable prices, is the fact that you don’t need an appointment for general care. When you’re busy working and running kids around, that’s a real win. Keep in mind that you may have to wait a bit during peak times, but if you know that going in, or call in advance to see if they are busy (I’ve done this), it shouldn’t be a huge problem. Read Less

DO NOT go to this place!!!!!! The have NO compassion. I had to euthanize my cat that I have had for 20 years. I just did not want her to suffer anymore. It was a very hard decision for me. I was devastated for days. This kitty was not just an object to me. She was a part of my family for two decades. The front desk lady was very rude and they made me wait for a ling time. That isn’t the worst part...... when the veterinarian finally came in, he didn’t introduce himself, nor did he even ask any questions about my kitty. I tried asking him questions as to why my precious kitty was so out of it, as if she had already passed and why she continued to breath????? He had no answers for me. He then flipped her over, WITHOUT holding her head, as if she was nothing but an object. My kitty was still alive and should NOT of been handled like that. He then stuck the needle in her without even letting me know. A normal person would of announced it so I could say my goodbyes. It made me so mad!!!! I waited only 30 min during peak after work hours and everyone was so sweet to my sick kitty. The vet and assistant didn't rush but still got us in and out. They petted him for a bit and talked to him to make him feel comfortable. They showed me the xray, told me exactly how much it would be, and sent me home with medicine. Great service! I'm not sure why this place is rated so highly.  I've been here a few times and found the service to just be okay.  The vets were friendly, but I felt rushed every time.  They didn't take the time to sit down and talk to me and let me ask questions.  I once had a test done and when I talked to someone over the phone regarding results, it was very confusing and unhelpful.  A lot of people claim that this place has better pricing, but honestly I think it's about the same.  I have since gone to another vet clinic and the difference in service is staggering.  They were super friendly, sat down and talked to me for at least 30 mins, and even sent me an email listing everything we talked about afterwards.  I feel like the prices were about the same, and I got to see the same vet each time.  I'm glad this place seems to work for other people,  but it's just not for me. I went here to get a second opinion on a broken bone in my pointers foot. My vet said leave it alone and let it heal or see a specialist have the foot set and splinted but she didn't have the splinting materials. I called several vets and told appointments would be at least a week in the future so I called St Paul and told walk-ins were accepted. I saw Dr Singh for the purpose of getting the hard splint . Dr Singh looked at the x-ray and examined Lilly. He then gave me the options of letting it heal or putting Lilly under anesthesia and setting the foot with a splint. The doctor went out of his way to assure me that Lilly would do well without the procedure and splint (and expense). I agreed and was told no charge for the consult! A week and a half later Lilly is doing well as predicted. My experience with this vet was very positive and the staff professional. and businesslike. This is an urban clinic and the lobby won't be confused with a country club. In this case I liked the "no appointments necessary" policy . I'll be back for sure. Read Less

I took my cat here because of some gastrointestinal issues she was having. While the vet was examining my cat, she squirmed quite a bit and was nearing the edge of the table. The vet asked me not to put my hands on her, so I let him do it. He did not stop her from moving off the table and she fell. When she fell, she stopped moving her back legs. When this happened, the vet said "oh,that's not good." He then told me that I needed to get an x-ray of her because of what happened when she fell. However, this x-ray did not need to be done. It was his fault that she fell off the table, and I should not have been charged for a mistake that could have been completely avoided had he paid attention to my cat. Please be cautious here, this experience completely changed my view of this clinic. I used to take my animals here, but I will no longer do so. Read Less

The receptionists are rude. Been here several times. Not a single hello or pleasantry. These women can't even crack a smile. Haven't seen the same vet twice. A couple of the vets were great. The last vet had a language barrier. He barely looked at my dog, but pushed surgery for $800. The tech wasn't any help either. Nobody at this place seems to like their job. Will never go back. I took my cat in to the vet today. He is an outdoor cat, most of the time, and had a wounded tail. No broken bones or fractures. The vet, did a quick, when I say quick I mean QUICK check up, and right after rubbing Lucas (My Cat) down and pretending to check his heart beat (you may ask how I know this, well I just happen to know that a heart beat should be checked for 10-15 seconds and then multiplied by 4 over the minute) he then said, "this check up will be $50." Literally what he did which is something I do daily to see if I notice any lumps near his back or stomach since he is outside so much, was rub all of the usual places on his body, his tail, ears, stomach. And when I mentioned he was throwing up clear liquid and peeing semi-brown he quickly said, "it will also be $100 if you want X-rays." Instead of being more relaxed and making us feel comfortable. He comes back with one set of X-rays which is just for his wounded tail. I was hoping to see his stomach too since I brought up vomiting and semi-brown pee. All he came out with was the tail and then he said his antibiotics will cost "$50" and THAT WAS IT. No explanation, he mentioned we could keep the tail clean or they can clean it for us if they put him under anesthesia and clean it out there for another fee. WHICH he didn't tell me the fee amount. The first time I brought Lucas here he was only 3 months and received his initial set of shots for which the vet or vet tech POKED through the skin! And then proceeded to scoff because she had to make a new vaccine for Lucas. I can't believe it. I am heart broken, this is my best friend and because of lazy work I may lose my cat. YES I WILL BE TAKING HIM TO A DIFFERENT VET TOMORROW. After falling $210 short for someone to tell me what I already knew!Read Less

I wish I couldn't even give a star. My dog went in for teeth cleaning and they called and said 8 teeth needed to be removed. I said ok if it was necessary. I asked them not to go over a certain amount and they did. Not only did my dog get 8 teeth pulled but has been sneezing snot all over and they say "bring him in so we can evaluate" He has been having sinus issues ever since then, I hate that place! We have had nothing but fantastic experiences at St. Paul Vet Clinic. Doctor Jenna has worked with (and solved) our dog's separation anxiety when we first got her, and most recently with storm anxiety. She always gets down on the floor with our dog and really takes her time by making our dog feel comfortable and recommending not only medication but also behavioral modification and informative books to read. With Jenna's help, we were able to solve the separation anxiety with behavioral modification only and managed to not have to drug our dog every time we left the house, which was important to us. The storms are a different story. Lol. We got our yearly shots here this year, and between the shots, heart worm pills, and doggy sedative prescription we still paid at least half of what we would've paid anywhere else.They don't take appointments, either you get there before they open and be one of the first through the door, or wait an hour until after they open and go once the initial rush settles down. Everyone has the same idea to arrive right when they open since its first come, first serve and we ended up waiting over an hour to be seen the last couple times. From what I can tell there's usually two staffed veterinarians and you don't get to choose which one you see. Either we've gotten lucky to have Jenna every time, or she sees only dogs, or they try to keep the care consistent, I don't know. There's a big private parking lot, don't let the neighborhood deter you. The only awkward thing is due to the location there's not even a sliver of green space for your pet to take care of business. All animal lovers find it so important to find a good vet they feel they can trust and are compassionate to our best friends. St. Paul has been my vet since I moved to MKE four years ago. From the routine but especially her last month. The doctor always explained each option very clearly and when I asked "what would you do if it was your dog" I felt like I received an honest answer. I have seen all of the vets and all were great. Dr. Brett or Brent was especially great through the last month- highly recommend! Read Less

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE! They did not treat my dog, they wanted to treat her symptoms to get money our of me and keep me coming back instead of fixing the real issue. I was told she was fine and probably ate something and would be fine in a few days. The receptionist Miranda is completely unprofessional! When my mother refused to take a seat Miranda actually got up into her face with her holding the dog. What business is that acceptable?! After seeing Dr. Singh again we were told my dog would die. That she should've been brought in earlier. She was brought in earlier and you told us she was fine! She died in my arms 30 minutes after coming home from there! They were never concerned about fixing my dog from the start, they just wanted to bill me. Research them! People have so many stories just like mine! This is not okay!!! Read Less

I've been here about 5 or 6 times with our dog.  I've had 4 really good visits and one not so satisfying visit.  I like the convenience of being able to walk in without an appointment, bc we all know that usually when you need a vet it's because something unexpected came up.  Every vet assistant we have had has been awesome with our dog.  The vets overall are nice.  The reception area could probably use a little work on friendliness/approachability in general.  The clinic looks a little dated which wouldn't bother me at all if I could count on getting a precise diagnosis every time I visit.Our last visit we took our dog in because he was missing fur in the fold beneath his eye and his eyes were very runny.  The vet recommended we take him off certain types of meat and all grain due to possible allergies, which we did.  She diagnosed a skin infection under his eye and put him on antibiotics (which of course game him diarrhea and an upset tummy).  We ran the course of antibiotics with no change in his skin fold.  After doing my own research I found out it was actually a yeast infection and treated him for fungal growth in the fold.  His hair has almost completely grown back in the fold and he is good to go.  I must say after that experience some of my confidence (and a bunch of my $) is gone.  I am certainly not a person who avoids taking my dog in when it's necessary, however I am disappointed at should have been a relatively easy and correct diagnosis for my breed of dog, which would have taken us down a path of treatment with a topical fungal application vs. an oral antibiotic. This place is very unorganized, and as i've found out, not even cheaper than anywhere else. Brought my dog in because she was limping really bad. 4 different people told me 4 different things about how the surgery scheduling works there. Then after we scheduled the surgery with receptionist for drop off from 8am-11am, we get a voicemail reminder and they tell us that drop off is 11am-2pm. Immediately off to a bad start, I decided to go somewhere else. After going to another vet and realizing all of the information St Paul did not give me. For example, they did not explain that there were a few different types of surgeries for this knee problem. As well as when I mentioned that I brought her to St. Paul first, the doctor kind of sighed and rolled his eyes. So it's apparent St. Paul has problems. Read Less

I've been to St. Paul vet a few times, my review is of my most recent experience.  My 17 year old cat has been going outside of the litterbox and traditionally this has always been due to a UTI. The clinic is walk -in only (not for surgeries I assume) so there are good times to go and good times to not go without a wait. I was there around 2 pm on a Friday and didn't have to wait long to see Dr. Dean. He was very nice and explained everything thoroughly. It would be nice if you could request a specific vet but I'm not sure you can do that. If so, I would ask to work with him again!Turns out kitty had  no bladder issues and her blood test came back perfect. I like that they didn't try to sell me on other tests, they said it would only be needed if her behavioral issues continued and also offered ways to help with that.I am happy that they now accept Care Credit, just in case you need to go that route and can take advantage of a promo like no interest for 6 months etc.They have hours that make it easy for first shifters to take their pet in without having to miss work.I like this clinic, although nothing fancy. The only reason I give this a star is for Jenna, who has seen both my dogs once. She is very helpful and thorough.I came in and said, "I'm hoping to see Jenna today." My younger dog has a sad past with many different owners and since suffers terrible anxiety and nervousness. We are moving from out of state and while transitioning, he needed a new prescription for Prozac, since his ran out during our move.  He was very agitated by the other dogs in the office, and I tried everything to calm him down since he was so upset. I even picked up my 50 lb. dog and had him look away from other dogs, which helped for a few minutes. I was trying very hard to keep him calm. The receptionists SUCK. They have a hilarious note on the counter warning people not to be hostile or swear at them. LOL This is NOT "that bad" of a part of town, and I've been to vets all over the country from NY to Hawaii, and never have I seen a clinic require this kind of note. Maybe it's the crappy attitude of the receptionists that warrant that kind of reaction from customers!Back to my anxious dog - I tried really hard to keep him calm and the receptionist did nothing to ease the check-in process. She spoke at a normal volume and I had to ask her to repeat many of her questions because despite hearing my dog's barking, she thought I had superhuman hearing and should speak like she's in a library.After I got to sit down and wait, I was told to sit on the other side of the room so my dog wouldn't see other dogs. That was useless to me, since he could still see the desk and was still barking and crying. I know it's frustrating. I live with it. I'm here for him to get Prozac. I'm well aware of his behavior. He's a nervous dog. Sorry, not sorry. We all have our issues, and my dog has some special needs that I'm here to treat. Can't think of a better place to be, but a vet clinic.  I had to sit on the dirty floor and hold him as the other receptionist shot my dirty looks.A tech came out and "weighed" my dog. She was so impatient, that she watched him walk across the scale 3 times and decided he weighed 47 lbs... there was NO WAY to get a weight on him. When Jenna asked her what the weight was, she stood there mumbling, deciding if she should lie or not that they couldn't get a weight. I came out and just said there was no weight taken.Once I was done with Jenna (who recommended to me some helpful resources for his anxiety), I went out front and since there was no line, I set my purse down so I could dig my card out to pay. My dog, with all his personal problems, immediately melted down at the sight of dogs in the waiting room, so it was taking me a second to get my payment together. The original receptionist told me to go wait because she was waiting on my paperwork. There was NO LINE and I was trying to get my payment ready so we could spend the least amount of time in there as possible. She called me back to the counter and abruptly said "$49." She ran my card and then handed me the wrong receipt to sign. Without any further response from her, I asked if we were all set.Very little bedside manner, here. Read Less

I'm actually really surprised at some of the reviews on here because I've had nothing but positive experiences at this clinic.My first visit was about three years ago when I had first gotten my rabbit, Joey, from the humane society. They give free exams for pets newly adopted from there, and it was closest to where I was living. I walked in, checked in and was seen within ten minutes. That was a less memorable experience, but a positive one.Fast forward to last night, I see my dog has a huge bubble bump in his mouth and I go to google. I see it COULD be cancer and flip out. I use yelp to see what places were available and open, in addition to their ratings. This one comes up and just happens to be open. I call and see if they have anyone available and the assistant on the phone lets me know that they take in the last patients at 8:30 pm (they close at 9). I speed over there and make it in time. There was one other person in the waiting room, and as I check in, I get asked the normal questions. Before I can sit down, I get called to see the doctor. Dr. Buley and her assistant, Diane were great. They both met Watson (my little guy) and he immediately took to them. Diane managed to get him to sit still enough to get him weighed, and they were nice during the exam. Dr. Buley could see how nervous I was and made great effort to let me know he was going to be okay, that it was a minor thing. Watson has severe separation anxiety and when he went into the other room to get the bump removed, I never once heard him scream or howl or cry for me. In fact, he came back happier than he left. Since we were there already, I figured we could update his shots and it was effortless, I don't even think he noticed he had gotten them.Dr. Buley spoiled him with treats and answered any and all questions I had. More important to me was her patience with me since I was so worried - she didn't seem annoyed hat I was asking a billion questions and asking for advice. I got out of the exam room and went to pay: our bill was significantly less than I expected and was quoted at other places. They don't take American Express, so come ready with cash or another card. As I was waiting for our ride, who was lost and running behind, Dr. Buley let us stay in the clinic with her (even though everyone else had gone home and she was supposed to, too) - which we appreciated, especially since it had just begun to snow and we weren't in the best neighborhood. She could have easily kicked us out and gone home, but she didn't and we appreciate that.Overall I am extremely please with all of the services we received here and their low cost. We needed to take a kitten to be checked and St. Paul's was open. I read all the reviews and walked in with an open mind. We arrived about 7pm on a Thursday evening. The parking lot was empty and so was the waiting room. The staff was courteous and kind. Dr. Sower was extremely knowledgeable! I loved the way he treated the baby cat and us. Prices were reasonable. We may switch to this vet permanently! LOVE LOVE LOVE him. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Read Less

St Paul Vet Clinic !!!BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE!!!I have been taking my dogs to St. Paul since they were born. Now age eight and age five I have lost confidence in them due to continuing issues from the staff and long-term incompetence. In this review, I will discuss two issues.   Last spring I took my service animal into the vet to get annual shots. The staff charged me over 200 dollars and then gave me the incorrect paperwork when I left. Thank god I checked the paper work otherwise TSA would not have let us travel.  I had to go back to the clinic and get the proper paperwork for licensing and to submit official papers so my animal could travel with me. What also disturbs me is that someone out there has my personal information because I am sure they gave my papers to someone else with my dog's proof of vaccinations. This breach of confidential information is just unacceptable. Recently at the end of 2014 my large lab has been ill for some time the Veterinarian  misdiagnosed my animal by telling me he had a tooth infection. Trusting the Vet's expertise I allowed them to do a tooth cleaning and give oral antibiotics that targets the mouth only. My dog continued to get worse. However they had no problem charging me over $350.00 for the visits and misdiagnosis. I Feeling ripped off on Christmas eve I took my animal to a different vet who looked at the cells of the large lump in his neck and found an infection. The antibiotics originally given was not a broad spectrum antibiotic but something for the mouth only. The doctor at St. Paul did not take the time to correctly examine my animal and I feel very taken advantage of. What saddens me is that once trust has been lost one can't get it back. Sorry St. Paul you lost my business I will not ever give them a favorable rating. I will further go out of my way to tell many of my experience and advice against using their services. Read Less

Love your pet.  My previous vet was a pain, you had to schedule an appointment a week out and they make you feel like crap for not taking their up-sell's. You don't get that at St. Paul. The fees here are reasonable, $39 each for distemper and bordetella shots. It's first-come, first-served with never a long wait and they are open into the early evening. Read Less

I really like this clinic - and they peg the right crowd with their slogan "The Working Man's Clinic". The fact that we don't need appointments, and the hours are extended really helps for people to be able to get in around their schedule. Don't expect the frills that cause the other vets to charge astronomical prices - this place keeps it simple, and the prices reflect that. The techs and the doctors are very knowledgeable and kind. My dog never gets shaky or scared, they're very gentle. They send out nice reminders when shots are due as well.The only downside is that sometimes the wait can get a little long. It's the risk you are going to run at a walk-in clinic. Read Less
