I love love love the animal doctor! I tried two other vet clinics in mukwonago before deciding to make the drive to muskego. I take both of my dogs there and couldn't be happier. My old vet in mukwonago had too many doctors contradicting each other and often prescribing unnecessary meds. Both clinics in town are also more expensive than animal doctor. 1) I was looking for help for our dog who went blind ( SARDS ) The initial visit was informative. Blood was drawn for some thyroid tests which was the first of a few tests recommended. I never received the test results after requesting 2xs and final was told the Lab didn't run the tests and there was an Error. Nothing from these people without hounding them. 2) Our daughter took her dog there several times for some ear and skin problems. Ear meds were prescribed which did not resolve the issue. She called to take her dog back in because the ear was painful and was told to " put cold compresses on the ear". Our daughter took her dog to another Vet right away and that Vet immediately cultured the ear and discovered a Bacterial infection. New meds were prescribed and her ear was much better in 24hrs. My advice is go somewhere else. These people over promise and under deliver. I wasn't looking for a miracle just some decent Vet work. Read Less

Service was fine; they decided they needed to do a $50 blood test on my dog & neglected to tell me the cost of the test prior to giving it to him or that it was going to be an added on service in general. She is amazing Doctor my cat got sick very sick, almost to death you could smell it cat was so sick and smelly almost like rat poisn, she treated Delhila and found out it was the Iams cat food I fed her, it was couple of days after the news report, my Son said look Mom look on the News, She Saved my cat I got remembersed from Iams also I didnt have to Join the Court suit to get repaid either My awesome cat Delhila lived 4 years after that he finally had to go I could tell he had enough of th IV drips he passed in my arms at night with me, Iam so glad Dr.Jodie gave him that extra time with us, She is The Best Vet ever you will not be dissapointed she is all Nautral my dogs paws had problems pure oils Lavendar helped like you would not beleave I am amazed at the teachings with the oils go check her out!!! I'll start by saying Dr. Jodie's holistic, albeit expensive, treatments work for our pet.  When other integrative vets in the area kept missing the mark, we were willing to bear the cost of premium supplements in the short term.  We were very happy at first.After the first appointment, communication at this office, however, was disorganized or nonexistent. Weaning our pet to more cost effective solutions was also unnecessarily difficult.In our experience, Dr. Jodie does not read the pet charts before entering, leaving you to remember and remind her of all of your pets history, supplements, medications, dosages and testing.  If your pet has a complex history or is taking the slew of supplements she prescribes, this gets annoying very fast (and potentially dangerous if you forget to mention something).Dr. Jodie does not respond to emails or phone calls and attempts to relay information through her staff, who forget to call, tell you the wrong information, or relay bare minimum information.  This forces you to make extra in person appointments to get your questions answered.When we saw another vet in the office, he gave different advice than Dr. Jodie.  When we emailed and called to ask for clarification and help finding a cheaper food option, we got no response.Lastly, I had to call 3 times over the span of one week to ask and remind them to send our pet's records to another vet after we moved.   For the prices we were paying and all of Dr. Jodie's supplements we've bought, we'd expect better treatment and responsiveness. I followed Dr. Shawn Mulvihill from the Healing Oasis in Sturtevant.  Dr. Shawn has been seeing my animals for over a decade and I trust him completely.  He always has my pets best interest at heart.  He also understands that while we love our animals, we sometimes have to be reasonable about budget. He'll do what he can to stretch a dollar and is always willing to go above and beyond. Totally worth driving nearly an hour each way.The reason I'm not going the full five starts is I'm still not totally sure about Dr. Jodie. I've only seen her once and she seems a bit full of herself.  I was super irritated that after my first visit to the clinic I had to purchase a DVD of her discussing what to feed my pets. I've been to a lot of vets over my many years as a cat mom, and this place is by far, the best for pets. Can't say enough.Dr. Jodie and staff are caring, happy to answer any questions, and I really believe a raw diet is the best option for my cats to have the healthiest life possible. Once you learn the facts, you can't just turn a blind eye and keep feeding your pets kibble.And it's no lie, switching your pets over to a raw diet is no walk in the park. Persistence will pay off! The front office is beautifully arranged and decorated. It gives you a homey atmosphere. They have a wonderful array of foods for cats and dogs at reasonable prices. The staff is friendly and helpful. As I entered the exam room it was set up similiar to a human doctor's office with a space for the attendant to make notes. The room had two benches that were inviting and a fold down table for exams. It was nicely decorated as well. Then we headed to the accupuncture room. Wow, it was beautiful. A large wood cabinet and tree were on one wall, a wood bench on the other wall. There was a large soft area on the floor for your pet with small pillows for comfort. Dr. Shawn said he could turn the lights off, light up the tree, adjust the heat for comfort and put on music all for the comfort of your pet. The best part of our visit was finding and being with Dr. Shawn. He changed jobs and we are glad we moved with him.Read Less

This is the WORST clinic I have ever experienced.  I've had animals my whole life.  The staff is incompetent and un-educated in their clinic policies and procedures and veterinary care. I never get the same answer from anyone and if you complain they turn it back to you so it's your fault.  They won't admit when they are wrong.  I feel like Dr. Jodie has this practice more for fame and fortune than the best interest of your animal.  She is always pushing her own products on me instead of listening to my concerns with my pet.  Although, I did give this clinic a second and third chance, I am now done with them.  It's the same story every time.  Also, they could not diagnose my pet's torn ACL even after 2 visits.  They just billed me and sent us on our way with a torn ACL.  I took her to my other vet who just looked at my pet and knew it was a torn ACL.  I strongly believe The Animal Doctor, Dr. Jodie and her staff DO NOT have your pet's best interest at hand. Dr Jody's friendly approach to my dog was lovely, but we had already waited over 45 minutes to see her while watching a required video on wholistic care. Coco was anxious and worried after this long wait which I felt could've been planned differently. There was a big push for expensive supplements that my dog simply won't eat and now I'm stuck with over $50 of these products. After spending over $400 for the check-up, blood tests, lab test for ear infection and medication, I was shocked to learn we'd be charged an additional $60 for a simple follow-up exam to make sure the ear infection is cured. On positive side, I agree with giving blood titre tests to avoid potentially harmful vaccinations and having alternative remedies to prevent fleas & ticks. On the down side, I never did get the heart worm medication needed and had to go back to pick it up. Be careful and clear about costs BEFORE you have anything done at this clinic. Read Less

This is the best Veterinarian by far!Dr. Jodie is remarkably knowledgeable, compassionate and attentive.  I truly appreciate her willingness to explore all options before recommending treatment.  She does not push procedures and products on you, she believes in "less is more" approach, which is not common in vets these days. I think it's ludicrous for the vet who runs the practice to "review" her own business services. In the "five star" review posted here, Dr. Jodie justifies her clinic's shortcomings by explaining how "overworked" her staff is and how "demanding" her clients are--instead of taking to heart the concerns that people have expressed about the practice. Being "overworked" and "under-appreciated" are a reflection of poor management and leadership; they are not a result of "demanding" clientele. Dr. Jodie's staff--almost across the board--ranges from unfriendly and impersonal to downright rude. She makes excuses for them instead of hiring a competent business manager. Dr. Jodie is a good vet (although her people skills aren't the best), but when she defends her staff even to the point of losing clients who have legitimate complaints, it is an example of something seriously wrong with the practice as a whole. When I was looking for a more holistic vet to take my dog to I came across the Animal Doctor. On the website, everything sounded great. Actually being there is a whole other story. Dr. Jodie is unbelievably rude, condescending, demeaning, and snobby. I have never had such a horrible vet visit. It seems like she tries very hard just to make her clients feel awful. After speaking to some other people I have learned this is very typical behavior for her. Her staff isn't any better. It is not a welcoming environment at all. You walk into this lovely calm waiting room with beautiful decorative concrete floors, leather soft sofas and a fire place.  Calming music is playing and a fountain is flowing.  it's so nice that it's not "cllnical" feelling. Even the exam rooms are calming, the bench for humans has pillows on it, again beautiful decorative concrete floors with a rug in the middle.  No sterile cold stainless steel tables to freak your pet out.  I have been taking my 3 dogs here for approximately 9 years.   I have never "not trusted" what they have told me or not taken their recomendations of care for my dogs.   The doctors sit on the floor with your dogs, additionally they have chiropractic care for the dogs, grooming and much much more.  They are a holistic vet, but the part I like the best is that they don't "force" any crazy ideas on you or tell you that you must have your dog on a certain diet or drug.  They usually give several options for care and most are holistic support instead of going to medications right away.   I know it's because of Animal Doctor that my 14 year old Border Collie still has such a good quality of life.   if you are a new customer, be prepared to spend about 1.5-2 hours there, as they  will spend that much time going over everything about your pet, and their philosophy of care and all that they offer. He had been having a re-occurring issue that my previous vet just kept giving medicine for and not willing to look at alternatives. I'd like to review my own clinic. My young staff is so dedicated and hard-working; they never get enough praise. Their days are very stressful because we have an extremely demanding clientele. We wouldn't have it any other way because our clients believe their pets are like their children. This is wonderful, but puts our staff under a lot of pressure. This is the one-year anniversary of the day that I flaked out on euthanizing my cat and went instead to get a third opinion--Dr. Jodie at the Animal Doctor. My cat ""crashed"" suddenly in a matter of hours--kidney failure, anorexia, IBD, heart murmur and vomiting--possibly from contaminated pet food. Two veterinarians insisted that the cat was dying and could not be saved, but Dr. Jodie, who has a wonderful way with animals (she sits on the floor with them on a carpet) and people, offered me a shred of hope, antibiotics, non-traditional medicines like Azodyl and Chinese herbs, and the proper dosage for injecting subcutaneous fluids at home. One year later, my now almost 18-year old cat is stable and doing fine, eating normal food, no medicines, and only getting a small amount of IV fluid at home on occasion. Dr. Jodie understood that all I needed was that *shred* of hope to nurse my cat through a really terrible illness that DID eventually stabilize--in the very least, bought me some time to say goodbye--since it had come on suddenly and catastrophically. My only complaint was that she encouraged me to feed baby food or a raw diet ($$$), which aggravated my cat's IBD--everything normalized when I put her back on the ""junk food"" she enjoys eating. Reasonable rates if you avoid buying stuff in the retail shop. My cat now seems healthier and has a better appetite than before she got sick. I also want to mention that before the kidney failure, several vets refused to clean my cat's teeth because they use general anesthesia and she had pretty bad gingivitis--Dr. Jodie cleaned them right in front of me using acupuncture needles to keep her still--her teeth and gums are now as healthy as they were when she was three or four years old. My only complaint about this vet is that she requires the pet to be ""dropped-off"" rather than making an appointment, which, when the cat was sick, was kind of a bummer, since the office location is fairly rural. But making the trip out to Muskego was a small sacrifice for the year of healthy life my cat has had because of Dr. Jodie. Read Less

We have been taking our dogs (all miniature dachshunds) to the Animal Doctor for many years. Our 2 current dogs, Vince and Halas are treated very well by the staff and Dr. Jodie. Dr. Jodie offers both holistic and traditional pet care products and she takes on the role of an educator and allows you, the pet parent to decide what is best for your pets.
