Hallett Vet has been taking care of my two pride and joys since they were puppies. They are super friendly when you walk in. Whenever I have a question I can call them instead of reading 10 different solutions on Google. One of my huskys is very scared around things he doesn't know and they are always very patient with him, making sure we can keep him as relaxed as possible. The techs and doctors always follow up with exams to make sure everything is going okay and to see if there are still concerns or questions. Absolutely love this place, HIGHLY recommend! Read Less

How do you begin to thank and appreciate John and his team for all the compassion they give?  Our beloved Buddy was a true testament of the love and care they share.  John Hallett has been with our baby for 13 years.  After moving our pet care to John from a vet, that shall remain nameless based on a misguided surgery, we could not have been more thankful.  John performed many tests and countless hours to get our little Buddy back to the pumpkin he should have been.  We received 16 years of unconditional love and just said goodbye to our baby last Friday with a tearful goodbye in our home thanks to John and Danielle.  They were so respectful and kind we could not thank them enough for the kindness and compassion they gave to us.  We truly understand how hard their careers are and thank them for all they do! We have been using Hallet Veterinary Clinic for well over a decade. Our last dog went every year  to have a general checkup. We were fortunate in that he was never sick until the day before he died. We brought him in during regular business hours because he could not stand up and was "crying"He seemed to be in terrible pain. The dog was 15,bleeding internally-surgery on an animal of that age was not recommended so we did what had to be done and had him put down. Dr. Hallett was very nice about it and said we could stay and get over the shock before we took the dog home to bury him. As it got to be about 10 minutes after closing time it was suggested that we had spent enough time pulling ourselves together from the shock and we should leave. We of course did. Within a month we had another dog, another resque and brought her in for an initional check-up. This dog turned out to have a few more health problems over the years-she had Lyme disease and ultimately developed lymphoma.Lymphoma is not curable in dogs-it can be treated with chemotherapy which is very hard on the animal and would only put her in remission for about 12 months and then after spending 4-6 thousand dollars on the treatment we could watch the dog get sick again. We decided against the chemo therapy . Dr. Hallet was pushy about us taking the dog to Madison to start treatment-he asked us if we had made an appointment at least twice after we informed him of our decision. We felt very pressured to follow a course of treatment we didn't agree with. Twice during this ordeal our dog developed UTI'S and instead of beginning treatment immediately based on initial test results the sample was sent out to a lab and our animal-who had no immune system left because of the cancer- was left untreated for a week.We have asked  everyone we can think of if this is standard practice and most were appalled that the animal went untreated that long. That would never be done to a human. We did ask about being able to get hold of someone from the clinic if it came down to having to put the dog down on a weekend when the clinic is closed. We were told no vet there is on call,we would have to take our dog to a strange emergency clinic and wait our turn. Not even at the end of her life would they bother to come in so the dog  would be cared for by someone she knew in an environment she knew.We think this is cold and cruel-in any type of health care practice it is expected that the provider will go that extra mile because it's part of the job. .We have definitely noticed over the years that the entire practice is more and more about money then the care of the animals. You will not get out that door without paying your bill no matter you've just been told your 8 year old dog is dying and there is no cure. Not even so much as an "I'm sorry"from the office staff. The vet will also.mske sure you know the amount before you leave the exam room.We found another vet to care for our dog in her last week and she came to the house when the end came. She did not bring her bill with her-we had to ask about payment and were told a bill would be sent. It's all about the money there at Hallett Veterinary Clinic and there is no compassion even for a dying dog if your are unfortunate enough to come to the end on a weekend. Some jobs in life require the little extras-most people consider their pets a family member-if the clinic cannot operate on that basis it's time to find another clinic where the Dr's and staff treat you and your pet as more then Dollar signs.Over the years we have noticed that at least half of the time the dog is not even given a treat to encourage trust. Our dog knew what drawer the treats were in and when she kept sniffing at the drawer because she wanted what was in there there were times she didn't get even one treat-not even after being stuck with several needles. Really-can't even afford treats now? We also came to the conclusion that Dr. Hallett did not want to accept our decision regarding the chemotherapy because he would make money administering the drugs. We will never set foot in there again -I would hope Dr. Hallett and staff would re-evaluate the way the clinic is being run and consider going back to the way they used to do business-when they really cared for the animal more then the money and were willing to go the extra mile for a dying dog.it was a horrible disease, she ultimately developed a skin cancer with sores that broke open and bled-watching this was hard enough, being told to go to the emergency clinic if the end came on a weekend was more then we could handle.Shame on you Dr. Hallett hope you enjoy all your free weekends. We have been using Hallett veterinary service for years, both for our last dog and this one . The present dog is 8 years old and has never been to another vet. We have been fortunate in that our dogs have always been healthy and have never required more then a once a year visit for an exam and shots. Several weeks ago, after a trusted dog sitter did a horrible job caring for our dog while we were on vacation, she developed a urinary tract infection and an eye injury. No need to mention the dog sitter- he was not a professional and does not sit dogs on a regular basis so we are confident he will not be neglecting other peoples pets. I took the dog in a week ago and she was diagnosed with a urinary tract infection and a bruised eye. She was given eye drops which have helped and the eye is almost normal now. She was also given antibiotics for the urinary tract infection plus a sample was sent out to a lab to see if there was a different kind of bacteria causing it which would require a different antibiotic. We did get a call from the vet late in the week saying the sample that had been sent out had not come back with a result yet. She seemed to be doing alright until Friday when she again started leaving puddles all over the house. On Sat. morning I called the vet- they are not open on weekends at all- there was no vet from Hallett on call- only the number for an emergency vet clinic. I did call there- they told me they couldn't do more for her without her records which they could not obtain, they could also take another urine sample and send it out but why do the same thing twice when we never got an answer the first time. I was told they had no way to contact a vet from Hallett to get information and possibly prescribe another antibiotic since the one she's one is clearly not working. In effect, we coudn't see or speak with the regular vet, the emergency vet could do nothing for our dog without her records which they could not get. Neither we nor the emergency vet's office could contact a vet from Hallett so this leaves us in a bad position all weekend. The dog is suffering, we are cleaning up puddles or tying her up in the kitchen. I believe this is very poor service, I have left a message with Hallett, which is all you can do, saying I want the dogs records and I will take her elsewhere, Somewhere that at least has some weekend hours or a way to contact a vet on call. There are several vets working at Hallett, it's not like it's one vet 24/7- it seems to me they could take turns being on call for situations like this where the emergency clinic can do nothing. As an aside, the dogs behavior at the vet, despite her discomfort was commendable- no one, even once gave her a treat. Are they that cheap that they couldn't even reward the dog for her good behavior in a bad situation? So here we sit- the dog is sick, I can get no help for her until Monday, the emergency clinic cannot help without her records which they cannot obtain and they cannot contact a vet from Hallett either. Would you want to know that if your dog was sick on the weekend there would be no help for her? Still waiting after a week for the results of the urine test that was sent out at great expense. It seems clear to me that the antibiotic is not working. Even regular Dr.'s offices have limited hours on Saturdays now- I would suggest Hallett follow suit because I can't imagine anyone using them when they knew there would be no help if something happened on a weekend. It would be a great deal of help if the emergency clinic that is recommended on Hallett's weekend message could get in touch with a vet from Hallett and possibly be able to help the animal. We have been lucky until now to have healthy animals, now when we need help for her- it isn't there. Read Less

On Sat. morning I called the vet- they are not open on weekends at all- there was no vet from Hallett on call- only the number for an emergency vet clinic. Read Less
