Pewaukee Veterinary Service is far too busy for our liking. We waited about 50 minutes PAST our scheduled appointment , and 55 after we had arrived, before our pet was seen. After 30 minutes in the waiting room, we were taken to an exam room and waited another twenty minutes. I had to let our puppy chew on a rubber key chain b/c he was getting so restless. When the vet tech finally came in all that was said was, ""sorry we're a little backed up."" The lobby was empty when we got there, and when we left there was one person at the desk and again the waiting room was empty, yet they were too busy to see us at the scheduled time or let us know if there were an emergency and there'd be a bit of time before we were seen. Other vets have given us the option to reschedule when that situation has arisen. Our time was of no concern. Then when he had a reaction to his vaccines I was put on hold for ten minutes and had to hang up and call back to be able to speak with someone. I was told to bring him back in because of his size. Had he been a larger dog they said he would have been ok vomiting once. They were prompt with seeing him when we got there, and very concerened once we were in the exam room, though they seemed confused. He was given a shot of benedryl and what I was told was 'asprin for dogs.' I was told we were not being charged for an office visit, but for the medications. I called today to discuss the bill, and was told the only thing they could take off was the office visit. We were told we were not being charged for that. Every othere office we have talked with said they do not charge for those medications when it is needed due to an allergic reaction. My sister's dog had a more severe reaction and her veterinary office did not charge anything when we had to take him back in. We discussed it and decided this office, though the waiting room had always been empty when we were there, they were too busy to see us on time. The billing just reaffirmed our decision. They are friendly, and I am sure the doctors are very capable and kind, however when I hear from multiple friends and offices that in the situation we had, it would have been handled differently I am certain we made the right decision to switch to a more personable office.
