Even though I went in for a sad purpose, every staff member was extremely kind and very helpful and made me not feel alone in making the hardest choice every fur-parent has to make at some point. Everyone was extremely nice. Dr. Stepnik the dermatologist was excellent and explained everything in detail concerning my French bulldog Samson's skin disorder, she even drew a diagram to further explain my dogs symptoms and her suggested treatment. She is very knowledgeable in her field and truly an outstanding Specialist. Nurse Shelby was great, she was very caring towards my dog and also took the time to further explain some lingering questions I had after the Dr. was done. Receptionist Samantha was very nice, polite, courteous and very helpful. I'm from the East Coast New York and relocated here to Wisconsin and the level of professionalism that I encountered at lakeshore versus other veterinarians in the East Coast is bar none. Our Buddy needed a knee operation... we knew going into this that it was going to be a very big investment so we were sure to listen and pay attention to the details. The entire staff was kind, knowledgeable and intuitive. They knew what we needed before we did. After my local dermatologist specialist at my local animal clinic retired, I was referred to the Port Washington location. I made an appointment with the clinic, and they got me in pretty quick which I was pleased about. After making my appointment, I received a call back requesting a $140 deposit for the appointment. I was told that the deposit would be applied to the services at time of service. I paid the 'deposit', expecting it to be a true deposit. At my visit, the staff and doctor were all really friendly. During my visit the doctor ran a skin scrape, an ear smear test, and cytology, which is nothing new for Sam. Turns out he had a bacterial infection, yeast infection, and scabies (oh, joy). When I went to pay my bill the total was $298 for the tests and meds (I also had to order more meds for another $80 since they didn't have the strength in stock). The $140 was applied to the bill so I paid the $158 that was due. The day after my visit, I received a phone call advising me there had been a unfortunate mishap in the accounting. The $140 'deposit' was actually to pay for the exam upfront, and the $298 in it's entirety was due at time of service. I told them that was not how it was explained to me, and if I was told that up front I would have never made the appointment. They told me that I saw a specialist, so it would cost more. I told them that the dermatologist visit with the same tests at my local clinic was $150 plus whatever the meds came out to be... Not $520 + gas + time off of work (around $600 total). They just said sorry you feel that way but we will send you an invoice and you still owe the $140. This clinic does a horrible job at explaining their charges, asking permission and advising of the cost of tests, and have zero empathy when they are the ones who screwed up. From the start they were misleading about the 'deposit', and they said they will have to advise the team to do a better job... that doesn't help me as I am out more money. I think what adds the cherry on top... the total cost of this visit was more than my mortgage payment. Great service and treatment, way overpriced. If the whole money thing doesn't bother you, then I would still recommend... If you are on a tight budget, I would call and get an entire estimate of the visit or look somewhere else.Read Less

I was stunned to learn that a group of phenomenally talented and caring EXPERTS in all phases of animal specialty medical needs were in my own backyard. I recently took my cat into this hospital, who had stopped eating and had lost 6 lbs. in 6 months. At first I thought some upper respiratory issues were the culprit of my very sick cat. If Dr. Byl had not pursed other avenues, I never would have known that my cat had a totally different diagnosis - which was fixed within hours. We had an incident where our Frenchie ripped his Dew Claw off at night back in December and the staff at Lakeshore Veterinary fixed him right up! Everyone was so sweet from the front desk staff to the vets techs! And they even put a cute little Christmas bow on his bandage! On top of that, they really know their stuff about Frenchies! Dr Byl and the staff were wonderful, I would highly recommend this emergency vet. Dr Byl was very informative prior to my dog getting an endoscopy after swallowing a foreign object. Our puppy had emergency surgery and Lakeshore Veterinary Specialists in Glendale did an amazing job caring for her. They were compassionate and caring towards Denali and always made time for us while she recovered. Lakeshore Veterinary Specialists Port Washington was also amazing. They were very kind at our consult appt and Dr. Buback was very patient and reassuring while we asked all our questions. They made us feel welcome and eased our fears for her next surgery. Took the surgeon hours to get to my girlfriends dad's 1 year old puppy. They failed to do anything they charged them for. Over $4,000 in charges for basically having their puppy sit and die. I can't believe how unprofessional one establishment could be. Don't take your dogs/puppies here for any emergency unless you want them to die. Read Less

They were wonderful! Our beloved 4 year old dachshund had lost control of his whole back half due to common back issues in the breed. Our hearts were broken. The whole staff at Lakeshore are amazingly compassionate. We were referred to Lakeshore by our family's vet. Our dog recently was diagnosed with cancer and we needed to see an oncologist. I wouldn't take my dogs anywhere else! We were greeted immediately and a tech came out to get my little pug right away. They made him comfortable with pillows and blankets. He was there for a few nights. They were great about updates and letting us come to see him. All of the doctors were great, especially Dr. Rushing! Everyone was so compassionate and we were never rushed! Amy gave us great discharge instructions! The initial consultation here was awesome. The staff, techs and veterinarians are very compassionate people. The veterinarian was very honest about how he thought we should proceed and wanted the oncologist to consult with us. We needed to go to the other location on Silver Spring Drive to see her for our St. Bernard's Cancer. There seemed to be some confusion regarding appointments between locations. The care is exceptional but I would suggest that if you need to go between locations that you always confirm the appointment with the location you are going to. Twice the appointment was confused. That said though they treated us and our St. Bernard with care and compassion during a very difficult time. They kept our St. Bernard's comfort as their priority and were honest with us when the treatment had stopped helping him. Read Less
