Impeccable service and great facilities. The vet spent over an hour with me and the charges were shockingly low for the services received and the time spent. We used to go to the West Allis Vet Clinic and everything about Shorewood Animal Hospital is better. I expected to pay a lot more given the service and location but I think the cost for my visit and medication was only $60 despite having spent nearly two hours with the vet and her assistants. This is a top notch operation! The fact that they provide free snacks in the lobby and make it a point to put a handmade blanket over your carrier when you arrive is icing on the cake. Read Less

Had a big teeth cleaning for our older dog and he was great with giving a very fair (lower than any other very I've been to) estimate and actually sticking to it with getting all the necessary work done. I can’t speak highly enough about Shorewood Animal Hospital. They were exceptionally gracious when I had to take my beagle in after she ate a sharp object. Doctor Rosene and the staff at Shorewood made time to do a thorough exam and really helped calm my nerves as he helped my dog despite our not having an appointment. We just took our kitty to see Dr. Young for a wellness visit. He hasn't been to a vet in many years because it is always so traumatic for him. They do low stress techniques for cats and gave him a pheromone blanket to calm him down. He did so well! He was calm and relaxed the whole time (even when they gave him 2 shots)! I spent forever researching veterinary clinics for my newly adopted cat. It's hard to find places with reviews so that's why I'm leaving one! Shorewood was recommended to me by a friend and I am very glad I took my cat there. My only complaint is I was told a wellness exam shouldn't be over 45 min tops and it ended up being 1hr 15 min at the clinic itself- not to mention my commute. I totally understand other animals needed immediate attention, but my cat grew increasingly anxious and difficult to work with as time went on. I feel he could have received better care if the interactive parts of the exam (looking at teeth, examining rash under his chin) had been done right away.That being said, the staff and Dr. Whang apologized more than once for the wait. They have also been fantastic over the phone and through email trying to figure out what's happening with my cat's chin rash. I've spoke to the receptionists, vet techs, and Dr. Whang herself left me a lengthy voicemail discussing options and next steps to take before bringing him in. The staff and facilities have been so great. I think my experience with waiting was a bummer- but an isolated incident that can happen when you're dealing with pets. I'll continue to keep my business here. :) It would be cool if they had a certain block of time one day a week (or even per month) that was dedicated to cats only- it would help with the anxiety my cat had hearing dogs barking and whining in the waiting area. I've been coming here ever since I got my dog and I can't complain one bit. The nurses are super nice, and Dr. Rosene very knowledgeable. I can call them up and ask a question, or go in and ask. We took our fur babies here and had a really good experience with Dr. Audrey Whang. She talked with me regarding my sick fur baby. She cared and showed compassion. This is our veterinarian of choice. It's close to our residence and they treat our four legged  buddy right. We've had nothing but good experience with Dr. Whang and the crew up here. Ralph seems to be all to excited to get in this place when we pull up. Prices are typical of a vet so really nothing earth shattering going on here. Generally have a good experience here. My dog is a bit scared of new places and didn't interact well with them at first, she still won't let them take her blood, but they work with her very well and she loves the treats. She's only had minor issues like allergies and skin infections, but I can say I feel safe taking her there for any reason. the only reason I would go down one star is because of the price and wait times. I understand that it's part of all vets to charge an office fee and then go up from there; but when you pay $45 for the vet to look at her skin, take a rubbing and look at it under a microscope. Then get charged another $30 for the microscope part it's irritating because what did the $45 go to? Just being in the office. I understand that's everywhere but it's extremely irritating. i've also waited upwards of 30 min past my appointment time to be seen without so much as an apology. I've had worse experiences and have been charged much more for less so I would still recommend them and I will keep taking my dog there Read Less

Not too many places can go from 2 stars to 5 stars all in one experience but when it comes to a fur child I will give you a chance to make things right. I had scheduled my fur baby to get spayed, something that husky owners dream of when the time is right. With over a months notice we were called and asked to change her appointment with about a weeks notice before the actual appointment. At this point I had made arrangements for moving and vacation so this did not set well, insert two star. After we were not offered any kind of accommodation I pretty much lost it and gave the feed back regarding their issues with internal scheduling failures are causing me punishment. Insert five stars, the doctor called us personally,  and explained his need to prioritize surgery for other fur children. He also made it a point to ensure our pup could get in and it would not be rushed by any means. We proceeded with the appointment and the doctor spent time with me explaining the procedure along with the follow-up times. When our pup was out he made sure that there was immediate follow-up, and when he had a chance he immediately followed up to go over details which was awesome.Before close we picked our fur baby up and one of the assistants answered all of our 1 million questions very patiently. The following day, the doctor followed up with a call to make sure everything was ok. At the end of all this, our doctor had  a 10 hour day of surgery and prep, we had people that followed up constantly to make sure we were happy, and information on top of information was provided to sooth over any concern we had. For $420 we had our dog spayed at shorewood animal hospital. Do your homework and compare prices but it will be very hard to beat that price and get a service better than this.  The team loves animals and are in love with your fur child as much as you are. Didn't realize that I neglected to review this clinic back when I had to come here with my cat, Misher, who I had to put down. I had my kitty for many years, more than 10. He was the best for such a long time, I was spoiled. But, alas we are all going to get old one day. Misher started to have issues with his health. Several vets that frustrated me terribly. The whole situation was immensely frustrating on it's own so the last thing I needed was a vet to frustrate me, too. I tried everything that I could, with various different vets... sigh.I finally came to Shorewood Animal Hospital after reading the reviews on Yelp. So thanks for everyone who wrote a nice review, it really helped me when I was at my wit's end. Specifically, Dr. Whang was our doctor. She was a breath of fresh air that I needed so bad because she made me feel like she understood what was going on and also empathized (something people unfairly forget about).My sweet Misher is gone, but Shorewood Animal Hospital made it all bearable.  I'd recommend this place to you and to any friend and also Dr. Whang. We took our recently adopted cat to this clinic for a checkup as it is nearby and had reasonably accurate medical advice (a little too willing to recommend dry food as an option, in my opinion). The veterinarian handled our timid cat well, and he seems to have had a pleasant experience. They do use PUREVAX line of cat vaccines, which are non-adjuvanted (adjuvants are inflammatory substances that stimulate an immune response but are strongly linked with the formation of Injection Site Sarcomas, a very aggressive type of cancerous tumor), so this was a definite positive note. Unfortunately, they do give injections in the scruff, which the AVMA has recommended against for over a decade, as if an ISS forms it is nearly impossible to remove. Ordinarily this would be something to give a one-star review over, but the risk of sarcoma is significantly lower with the non-adjuvanted vaccines. We will be seeking out a vet that does injections in the leg or tail for future visits. Read Less

my first visit to SAH was in July of 1993, with my late collie, Fletcher. Since then, his successor collie, Duncan, and his successor collie, Murray, have been, or is currently, a Shorewood Animal Hospital client. I can't imagine going to any other vets, all the staff are good people, who really care about my dogs, and each and every one of my collies has simply adored the vets there. in the near future, there will probably be another collie in my future, as Murray is aging (well, thanks to his personal physicians), so it's time. and when the puppy arrives, one of his first stops will be to meet his vet for a check-up....and if things go like they have for the last 22 years, he'll find a vet to adore, just like Murray does, and Duncan and Fletcher did. it's a real pleasure to know that my partners are in such good and caring hands.Read Less

Can't believe it has taking me this long to send some love to SAH.I adopted a sweet little cat and being the paranoid cat owner that I am set up an appointment shortly after to make sure my girl was in good health. She was having some sneezing issues and green goop in her eyes and wanted to make sure she was healthy. Setting up an appointment was super easy. Getting my cat into her carrier was not so easy. It was such a struggle that it made me totally late for my appointment. It also made me nervous that my cat would be a complete nightmare for the vet because she was super grumpy by the time I even got her to the car. Luckily, the staff was very understanding and got me right in even though I was twenty minutes late. Yup, that's right I struggled for that long and the hospital was that patient to not even bat an eye at my tardiness. Once in the examination room, i let my cat out and she was obviously very nervous. However the vet came in shortly after and he made her feel completely comfortable and safe. She usually gets pretty impatient with me when I try to clip her toenails or look at her ears but she was completely calm with the vet. Clearly I need some training in cat care myself. She turned out having no serious issues and the vet even helped me very easily get her back in her carrier. A few weeks later we got a card thanking us for our visit...no no...thank you!! Read Less

I have gone to other Vets before and never before has my family (myself, spouse and pet) been treated like we were their only customers. We had the sad task of having our best cat friend put to sleep and the caring and compassion that was afforded us was amazing, You can tell when someone honestly cares about the animals they're helping and when you and your pet are just income to them, these folks are tops, Dr. Wang is excellent and Julie Volkmann are lovely people! I had a terrible experience at the Shorewood Animal Hospital. I took my 12 week old puppy in for the first time for her 12 week shots and because she hadn't been feeling well. It started off okay, but that soon changed. I asked the vet that we saw what could be causing my puppy's upset stomach. All she said was that it could be several things and did not appear concerned at all. I expected her to do some sort of exam on my puppy but all she did was feel her hips, look at her eyes and ears. She didn't do any tests to see what was causing my puppy's upset stomach or offer to do any when I asked about it. They then offered to clip her nails which was horrible. They made not only one nail bleed, but two and one wasn't just a little blood it was a good amount. I will never take my dogs back to this place. Their vet techs need more training and their vets themselves need to be more compassionate and willing to figure out what is wrong with their patients! Read Less
