So. on my morning off from work, my normally spunky, healthy but old (16 y/o) cat Sami was acting totally off her feed. 7am? Fine? 8am? I'm calling the vet. Indeed, I called the office a little after 8am and they said it would be best to bring her in with such acute symptoms. The only appt. available was 2:40pm, and I had to work. The office called back about 20 minutes later to say "hey, bring her in, and maybe the vet can see her between appts." Okay, good. Brought Sami in the pouring rain about 9:30, and it turns out there was a cancellation! So Dr. Mac was able to spend the time with Sami and I. Both she and the vet tech (Im pretty sure it was Brit, but both were amazing professionals) were so VERY kind and sympathetic to my stupid tears but also very thorough in their care. The office staff offered me a welcomed coffee while I waited for Sami's test. Dr. Mac came back and was wonderful about explaining the x-rays. Turns out my girl has kidney disease but that's to be expected of older cats. Still not quite sure on the acute onset of the straining and vomiting, but Sami seems over it now. Again, being a lousy, rainy, bring my cat into the vet Wednesday morning, it was a pretty good experience, and Sami is, for now, doing well. Thank you, ACiS, for your wonderful care of Sami and me.
