We just moved to the area in September and were feeling pretty reluctant and stuck up about switching vets because our vet back home held the bar very high. Our dogs are our whole life; they are like our kids, so we couldn't just go to any vet. True Veterinary Care has exceeded our expectations and then some. Both Dr. Sarah and Dr. Sallie are very thorough and make sure you understand all of the options you have available as well as the cost of those options. You can tell that both vets truly care about your pet and want what's best for them. The staff is accommodating, polite, and always so, unbelievably nice and helpful. They have a convenient shop on their website where they can ship medications, food, flea & tick preventative, and heartworm preventative directly to you. Dr. Sarah and her staff are incredible, and have cared for my 14-year old dog and 16-year old cat most of their lives. Two years ago, I moved across town, and although I could choose any other vet between my house and True Veterinary Care, I would never consider it. They know your pets are your family and treat them as such. Dr. Sarah is the kind of person you want as your best friend. She is realistic, honest, caring, gentle, generous and charges are reasonable for amazing services. When you leave an appointment, you're not forgotten and staff always follows up. I rarely write a review, but after my first visit I must say it far exceeded my expectations! I have a dog that is older and has only lived me just about year, so there are still things we are working through. The time and care the entire staff provided to make her first visit positive was remarkable. The exam room was so inviting, that I began to wish my Dr's office was more like this! A very nice touch by sitting with her on the floor, or padded bench. Kudos to the entire staff for doing things right, being so kind and having the patience when a dog needs a little more patience to not be afraid. This is the best veterinarian I have ever been to in five states. Not only is the clinic itself up to the highest standards of cleanliness and comfort (it really feels like home), but the staff is beyond comparison in friendliness and customer service. On top of being by far the highest quality vet clinic I have visited, they are also very reasonably priced (and importantly don't try to inflate your bill with unnecessary tests and treatments). I took my dog in the day before Christmas Eve they saw him just an hour after I called and the Veterinary staff were great with him. The examining room was Huge and they let him run around on the floor rather then put him up on a cold table. Very reasonably priced and for once my dog was Not scared out of his mind at the vet. I am switching all my dogs to True Veterinary Care and I Highly recommend it to anyone with a fur baby!Read Less

They took really thorough care of my dogs. One of them likes to bite strangers who are standing up, and the vet sat on the floor with them so they weren't nervous and didn't know they were being examined.They explain the costs of medicine and tests before doing them, which is also really nice. Their fees were reasonable from what I'm used to (but I'm from the east coast so I'm used to really high vet costs). What I think is reasonable and what someone from the area thinks is reasonable might not be the same thing.I also liked that they use email to communicate. Finally, they were able to get a mistake corrected on my dog's rabies certificate by contacting her last vet - this meant she didn't get a shot she didn't need, and I'm grateful for that.The office was reasonably clean, and didn't smell bad. I have really enjoyed bringing my kitty Ziggy to see Dr. Kalstrap. The entire staff at True Veterinary Care is always so sweet and welcoming whenever we come in for an appointment and they make it a point to explain every procedure fully. The best vet I have ever been to. My puppy Aspen has been going here since she was 6 weeks old and not only do I love Dr. Sarah and team, Aspen EXTRA LOVES them. We had the laparoscopic spay surgery done on Aspen when she was little and they did such a great job taking care of her before during and after the surgery. Sarah Kalstrup is the best veterinarian we've ever had.  She took wonderful care of our very sweet dog and beloved old cat during their final years, and was gentle, thoughtful, and respectful of our process during the tough transition that followed.  We never felt rushed, or pushed into a particular course of action; she gave us all the information we needed, and helped us sort it through.  We are so delighted that we will be able to take our new puppy to such a wonderful doc.  Oh -- and the office folks are top-notch too.  Great with our critters, authentically warm, really competent.  Highly recommended. Dr Kalstrup and her staff are wonderful.  The office is modern and soothing to the visitor and time is taken during the visit to address the whole health of the animal patient.  My cat is diabetic, on insulin and vet aggressive and a visit to the vet makes me very anxious usually but it was completely different here. We recently moved to Poynette from Madison, and Dr. Sarah let us know she would be bummed to not see us or our pups anymore. I told her she was nuts! There is NO way we are taking our dogs anywhere else. We made our first trip today, when she squeezed us in on a triple-booked day because I had a concern about our older Shepherd mix. Not only that, but because of the drive out there, we try to get some errands done in Madison while they are being seen. Sarah and her staff are always accommodating and watch over our fur kids until we're back. When my Shepherd got his teeth cleaned, they said he started making a fuss in the kennel when he woke up and was waiting for me to pick him up, so they let him hang out in the empty x-ray room instead. Love, love, love this place!I found them through the boarding facility I used to work at. One of our long term clients used them and we were so impressed we started recommending them to clients new to the area. I was perfectly content with the vet I was using (I believe I actually wrote them a positive review as well on here) but had to make the switch to Dr. Sarah. She is one of the most genuinely kind and compassionate people I have ever met. She truly cares for the well being of each and every pet she sees. She knows they are our family and treats them as such. I have an older guy who is staring to show his age. No real problems yet, just slowing down , having the most trouble with his back legs. On our first visit, Dr. Sarah spent at least an hour with us (probably close to an hour an a half) getting to know my pup, and listening to each and every concern and observation I had about him. She made a few recommendations, and brought up a specialist we could see for pain management and getting him to use the muscles in his back legs properly, but absolutely was not pushy about anything. She gave us a few simple exercises we could do at home, and even though she carries the supplement I already had him on, told me the cheapest place to get them is on Amazon.They have also always been able to get me in whenever I call. Same day or a few days in advance have never been a problem. We are always greeted and taken back to an exam room immediately where we talk with the vet tech about his basics, and then Dr. Sarah joins us. The time spent in the waiting room is nonexistent and the time spent in the exam room after the vet tech has left, but before Dr. Sarah comes in is minuscule. I am getting a bit long winded, but I really can't say enough positive things about Dr. Sarah and her staff. I moved about 6 months ago to the East side, which makes the drive over to Verona about 30 or 40 minutes depending on traffic, but I wouldn't dream of switching. Totally worth the drive, as long as I'm in the Madison area, I will never go anywhere else! Read Less
