I went in with a ferret that had a growth on his leg. Being my first time there they waived the clinic fee, and had such nice hours it was easy for me to get there without having to take off work to do it. They ended up doing surgery and removed the growth and explained what they did and were in contact with me letting me know how he was doing. The staff and doc were all very friendly and took good care of my ferret. A week later he ended up picking at his stitches because well, you try and cone a ferret. Good luck with that. They took him in back out a powder antibiotic on it and sent me home with some meds and only charged the cost of medication, not a clinic visit or examination. So all these reviews of scamming for money seem a bit outlandish. I had no problems with westown from the staff to costs. Thanks for the good advice after my cat swallowed that long shoelace. I knew it was a serious and dangerous situation when that shoelace got stuck inside Rocky's intestines. 3 daily doses of Cat lax, 5 bowels of water around the house, and lots of play and exercise kept the food flowing thru Rocky and the stools passing out of Rocky into the litter box. It took nearly 2 weeks before Rocky finally coughed up that darn shoelace. Thank God we didn't have to surgically remove the shoelace. Thanks again for all the help and good advice. Originally got turned onto this clinic due to their dental special they were running. I was very impressed with the pre-op exam for my senior dog. The vet was thorough, and explained everything he was checking and what he was looking for. He even caught that my dog had cataracts (somewhat obvious- my usual vet had noted this but never said much) and offered me options on what I can do to slow down the process. I was able to leave with drops to help prolong Ozzy's vision, whereas my usual vet never said one thing about treatment. I read the previous reviews, and I agree. Great place. I thought my cat had a broken leg on a saturday. North Lake Vet which is my old vet now told me they couldnt make time to see him. New to WI and used Google reviews to decide on a new vet for our 2 cats. Have since had a vaccination appointment, as well as getting our kitten spayed. Really impressed with the entire staff- they are all sweet, caring, genuine, knowledgeable & helpful! Also observed outstanding care given to others too while I've waited. My pets are family to my husband & I, and I feel confident taking my cats there. They aren't pushy about unnecessary extras, they just give you information to make a decision that's best for you & your pet. Westown Veterinary Clinic was our third vet that we took our cat to when he started to have problems. I don't have any real complaints about the other two previous vets we saw, but we really needed a vet on a Sunday, and Westown was able to provide that. The staff and especially the veterinarian who treated our cat was very kind, gentle, caring, and compassionate. He truly wanted to get to the cause of the problem. Thanks to their help we were able to get a diagnosis quickly. The staff and the doctor stayed late (beyond closing) to help care for our dear Oscar. I notice that our kitten was not eating, he was acting different and I knew something was wrong. It seemed to be something with his teeth. I needed him to be seen right away because I had no clue how long he wasn't eating since I worked 2 jobs, so I wasn't home all the time. I called and they seemed very concerned and had me in the same day. They were so good with him and the vet noticed his gums were inflamed. They took a blood test and have him on antibiotics. We are still waiting on the results of his test but I was so impressed at how the staff acts with every animal that walks in. Convenient location, very nice place, friendly and knowledgeable staff, affordable pet care. Our two cats were both treated there on several occasions, and it always turned out well and they healed nicely. Unfortunately, we recently lost one of them, due to severe health problems. Even though Ears could not have been saved, we believe he received the best care possible. We do thank the nice and competent staff, especially Dr. Vivek, for trying their best in treating Ears and for always clearly and openly discussing his health issues with us. We've been taking our dogs to Westown since 2006. Whether our dogs are sick or need boarding while we are on vacation, they never have an issue going to the vet; they like it there. We've been taking our animals to Westown Vet Clinic for over 12 years. They are truly like family. Very recently we had to put our 12 year old dog to sleep and the entire staff was beyond wonderful. They were so kind and thoughtful, helping us so much, during that last week when our Molly just wasn't improving and finally giving us ample time to say our goodbye's. Dr. Vivek was so sincere in his thoughts and words that we found a lot of comfort in a very hard situation. I truly cannot thank or recommend them enough. We have just recently started going to Westown and so far we love it! We have 4 dogs and we have high expectations in regards to the care they receive. If we have one bad experience at a vet - that is one too many in our eyes. What we really appreciate about Westown is their genuine care. Receiving a follow up phone call a couple days later to check in on the pups after they get vaccinations, etc is such a simple gesture - but means the world to the customers. The staff and Dr.s are great. I brought my dog in for a dental cleaning. I had a slight issue and they took care of that issue right away. Absolutely LOVED this vet clinic. Not only is it super close to my house but I love the extended weekend hours so that I'm able to schedule an appointment when it's easy for me. It was very important to me that I wasn't going to get slammed with unexpected fees or charges, and they were very upfront and honest with how much it was going to cost for the care. I appreciated that a lot. I took my 5 month old kitten in for some shots and the vet was so kind to Lucy. He was polite and very professional. The vet tech was also incredibly sweet. I took my cat there on a weekend when my vet was closed. They were wonderful and discovered my cat had crystals in his urine and an infection so they put him on medicine. I recently had to take my cat in for an emergency.. This vet was open on a Sunday when NO ONE else was & told me to walk-in immediately to help him! I accidentally cut him while cutting away feces from his hair. The took him, performed an immideate procedure, have him meds and fixed him right up! They explained everything they were going to do and broke down the costs for me. My baby has now fully recovered and is doing amazing! I don't know what I would have done without this vet! We originally chose this vet because he had regular weekend hours and our elderly dog needed immediate care due to hemorrhaging of the mouth. Before he performed immediate surgery on her, he told us of all the options and all associated costs. When her lab work came back (after surgery) he explained what each "off number" meant and what to do to combat it. My dog was seen two more times by him, the final time revealing the our dog had advanced leukemia. This wonderful, knowledgeable, caring vet came to our house to put our beloved dog to sleep. The concern and respect he had about our dog, us, and our emotions was above reproach. My two other dogs will be going to Westown Veterinary Clinic for any and all future needs. Read Less

Excellent care and attention We have been taking our 2 cats to this clinic since we got them. The doctors and the staff handle all procedures with the same care and attention to detail: from routine shots, a flea bath and flea treatment, to tooth cleaning, tooth extraction, and most recently bladder surgery being gentle with our pets, and straightforward with us. After a particularly scary issue with my cat, and a 24-hour stay at the vets, I got called the next day after the cat had been returned to me, to check upon him and make sure that my cat was doing alright. I'd give them 0 stars if I could. Took my sweet, adorable kitten there to have her front paws declawed. I didn't want to but I was told I had to. I went to pick her up and they said all went fine. Khan wouldn't answer any of my questions; he just kept telling me about mandatory vaccinations. I had already gotten them and they were in the file; he just didn't know how to turn the page to see it. Then I heard my cat in the back room making awful noises. When I asked what was going on, he walked out of the room. She came back to me a scared, anxious, angry cat. She refuses to be held. She hates all strangers and jumps at every single noise. I contacted them and his response was that sometimes kittens are good but when they get older they can get worse. Um, they had her for a day and she turned that way. I will never return to this Vet Clinic, OR recommend anyone go here.3 years ago my girlfriend & I moved to the area and needed to find a new vet. I looked around and someone had suggested Westown Vet Clinic. We took our cat there to have her spayed. She got the surgery and then we were encouraged to get a bunch of other stuff that was not needed. My cat absolutely HATED that place. When we would bring her there she would cry so loud I could hear her in the lobby.Fast forwarding 3 years to day. My cat had a lump on her underside and I learned that when cats are spayed too late, they are at risk for mammary carcinoma, CANCER!!! If this is common knowledge among vets, then why did Dr. Kahn not mention that if I get my cat spayed at 3 years of age that there may be complications down the road?!? Very UNPROFESSIONAL!!!Also, I recently learned after moving to a new vet that Westown Vet Clinic said that my cat, was "agressive & to use caution!!" REALLY?!? I find that interesting because everyone at the my new vet says she's a sweetheart & they like her!!After reading other reviews about Westown Clinic I learned of their poor boarding accommodations, and may other disturbing things.. which makes me sick to my stomach. by Nicole 12/09/2010 I would not take your pet here. I brought my pet here because he was vomiting. They ran tests, did xrays, and the solution was that he needed a cleaning and was constipated. So i did what they recommended. After bringing him home he wouldnt eat, per Dr. Kahn if he's drinking water he""ll be fine.Another week went by tried calling there office...and the girls at the front told me he would return my phone call. No returned phone call. I took my pet to another office. The new office contacted westown to have records transfered...they took there time and were finally faxed the following day. As my pet was being seen on an emergency basis the day before. The new office ran new blood work found that he had liver & kidney failure and was anemic due to a tumor in his stomach. My pet had to be put to sleep because he was so sick and the damage had already been done to his kidneys. I wish this clinic would have found this out on our 1st visit and maybe my pet would have had a chance & not have had to suffer....im writing this review 1 month and 2 weeks later after our visit to westown and 1 day after I had to put my pet to rest. Please if you want a proper diagnosis do not take your pet here,myself and my fur baby beg you! Read Less
