Had a bad experience with another vet; this place has been night and day better. Reasonably priced and properly explains stuff. Reasonable price, our cat has possibly super-early kidney problems, so they tested her. They knew if she did it would be very very early stage so it wasn't urgent to get results so they explained this and asked if they could send the sample out for testing and though it would take longer, it would be cheaper. Little things like that are really nice to see. The facility is very nice and clean. Brought my almost 5 month old puppy in for her last puppy shot. Staff was not friendly and didn't explain anything in normal people talk- only vet talk. Provided receipts from previous vets that said the names of the shots given to her, as well as the specific name of the shot we still needed. Each person we spoke to changed their mind about what shot our puppy needed. A $43 shot turned into a $115 vet visit. Once we saw the actual vet, he was not friendly and was judgmental that we hadn't trained our less than 5 month old puppy yet. Dr. Troy Semandel is like no other doctor! I wouldn't trust anyone else with our dog's veterinarian care other then him. He is very passionate about his job and it shows. No matter what issue our dogs have he diagnosed it the first time, when several other vets could not. We had to have our pet rabbit euthanized due to spinal injury. We called another vet office that was robotic in their response saying they were too busy and did think they did rabbits. My husband called Spirit of 76 the first words the receptionist said was " I'm so sorry for your loss" and they went on to help us. Today we had Oliver put to rest the staff could not have been more caring we never felt rushed . I'm really impressed by this clinic. We recently brought our cat in for a second opinion, and I was l really impressed by the efficient and effective service, so much so that I'll be taking our cat here permanently. The vet (Dr. Blessing) was incredibly informative and offered numerous different options for treatment. We received more information from her in one session than several appointments at my old vet. She, and the rest of the staff we've encountered, are really good with cats and the environment of the office is pretty relaxing for a stressed out animal. Prices are also very reasonable. Read Less

I requested to have a vet that knew how to handle scared and timid dogs and told the receptionist to put in his chart that my dog would require a little more attention as he can get nippy because he gets scared easily. He does well with vets that know how to read body language and if they go slow with him and is very food motivated. The vet came in and had no clue about the note in the chart and didn't try very hard to gain my dogs trust. He just took him the back and they muzzled him. Read Less

We've been taking out pit bull mix, Bucky to Dr. Blessing at Spirit of 76th for the past 6 years, and always leave talking about how fantastic she is with him! He gets pretty anxious at the vet, but she does a wonderful job handling him and making him (and us) feel comfortable. Anytime we bring him in for a health issue, she calls to check up on him until she knows he's doing better, which I really appreciate! On top of that, Bucky isn't always fond of other dogs, and they are SO accommodating, ushering us in and out of the waiting room without a problem. Been going there for years, our dog gets an infection so I brought him in to be looked at. They say they don't take walk- ins, but they could make an appointment for him next week. Sure that's sounds good, wait a week and the infection will wait on them I'm sure. So what kind of vet just takes appointments, forget the real sick ones. Well we called another Vet, said they would take him right away. Funny thing, they said if we're open we will find a way to see a sick animal. Never again will we take our animal to this place. This place is a complete joke.I came here today to have my 16 1/2 year old dog that had been in our family since she was a pup.I am extremely sadden by the fact that her time has come.Already not a pleasant experience and then to be talked to like a child and disrespected as to why I am putting her down Dr.Voss wanted me to pay an exam fee so if he see why we were putting her down. I truly love the vet I have at Spirit of 76th . My dog was extremely ill I took her there by Dr. Lippmann. She was very very sick , she was diagnosed with Shakers Syndrome . Happens in little white dogs for pretty much no reason . She stayed their for for 2 weeks and with the care from the doctor and all the techs she is now home. The doctor called me 2 x day to let me know how she was doing , didn't look good in the beginning . The doc is still watching her very close, we seen him every week and now to every other week. Along with this syndrome came eye infections now skin infections but I have all my faith in Spirit of 76th!!!!!! Read Less

Established our kitty as a patient at Spirit of 76th and saw Dr. Blessing only yesterday. We have a cat who was abandoned and on her own when we rescued her and she was so afraid yesterday that she was hissing, growling, scratching, and biting. Dr. Blessing and the tech (wish I had her name) took great care of her even though she never calmed. I have had Great Experience w/ this Clinic. It is extremely busy at times but the Dr.s and Staff do their best to explain things. They also are one of the better priced vets around and often times will look at Home Remedies instead of just throwing the animal on a Medication. One example of Great service; I took my dog in for an ear cleaning and found out that both of his ears were infected. I did notice tons of Scratching. The Tech Immediately had the Vet look at it and the Vet never charged for an office Visit. Treated Both ears and clipped all his nails for 86 bucks. Plus before the Tech explained the Charges and we were able to get in and out of the Clinic in much less than an hour! Read Less

She is always treated as a queen and I have been totally impressed with the concern for our baby that they provide. I am so glad that West Allis V.C. wasn't accepting new patients because it led me to Spirit of 76! The staff is super friendly and accomodating and the doctor was gentle and informative with my skittish senior Shih-Tzu Maltese. The clinic was clean ... they even wiped down all the chairs in the exam room between patients. I have never been to a vet that took so much care in the cleanliness. Very disappointed in the level of service and professionalism with this clinic. We had them look at our cat for an itchy ear problem she was having as well as she seemed to have allergies. We took her to the appointment and the front desk was very personable. We then saw the doctor who seemed to understand the present issues at hand. They then took her back to do a lab test on her ears. We then met with the people in the front to pick up her medicine. The person who explained the directions of how to give her the medications was very unclear about how to administer it. We actually called back to verify. Then we got her home and she would not stop scratching at her ears. I then took a look at them and found cotton remnants in her ear that they left in them. We now have been treating her for ten days with the expensive medication they gave her and she is showing no improvement. I am very disappointed in the service we received. It saddens me to think this is how they treat anal who have no way of speaking for themselves about their issues. Read Less

Had an appointment here for a pre-spay visit for my dog as I was recommended to the clinic by a friend. Upon entering the facility it was clear that the reception staff would rather be elsewhere and they we not welcoming in any way shape or form. Still, I gave it a pass as it would be the vet providing any treatment not the front desk staff. The male that took us back to the room was not welcoming either, rather than wait and walk us back from the lobby he told me that room was ready and walked to the room neglecting to wait for me to stand up with my dog an follow him. Upon entering the room he made no effort to engage with my dog or myself. After getting the general info he said that the vet was just finishing up and would be in the room shortly before he exited the room.As I sat down on the bench in the room I saw what appeared to be a one large patch and one small patch of smeared feces in the middle of the floor of the room. I got up to look closer at it thinking there was no way it could be so but unfortunately it was indeed dried dog feces smeared on the floor. I picked my dog up, exited the room and told the staff at the front desk that I would be going elsewhere because there was dried feces on their floor and it was disgusting.This occurred around 10:45am, I received a call from Chris at 2:30pm asking that I call her back to talk about the "incident". Giving them the benefit of the doubt I returned Chris's call only to be told that she had left for the day and to be put on hold for about 5 min by the receptionist. When the manager on duty finally picked up she had no idea about what had previously happened, which leads me to believe that not only is there a lack proper cleaning procedures within the facility but also there is a lack of communication between the staff.I would advise others to avoid this vet or at least proceed with caution as I find it hard to believe that a vet that leaves dried feces on their floor will provide adequate and competent care to the animals it treats. Needless to say, I will never be returning back to this facility ever again. Read Less

Today was my first visit to this office and I was impressed. It's the nicest looking vet I've ever been to, which puts the people at ease (dogs don't give a crap, but pet parents are nervous at the vet too!). The front desk staff wasn't super friendly, but I didn't let it put me off. They went through the questions quickly and we weren't kept waiting. Dr. Seebart (I think?) was very nice, gave thorough information, and got us in and out of there without wasting time. Nothing irritates me more than sitting around waiting for the doctor, so it's nice to know that they don't fool around here. My only complaint is that it was more expensive than my last vet, but I suspect Spirit of 76th is on par with other vet offices, and my fee wasn't unreasonable. I have been to many veterinarian clinics throughout my time here in Milwaukee and this is hands down the best. Living on the east side, it was a bit of a drive foe me, but the experience was worth it -- in the end. I'll explain. I had a cat that I suspected had Jaundice, a form of liver disease. Yellowing of the skin and a drastic loss of appetite.  I took him in and within a few hours my fears were realized when the vet called me back and gave me the news. I was heartbroken, but the vet said it may have been caught in time. So i went ahead with treatment. The vet, Dr. Seebart, called me everyday with updates and it looked as though "things were moving in the right direction." This really helped with the time passing and eased the worrying on how my beloved pet was doing.A week later, I brought him home and everything was looking for a bright recovery...or so it had seemed. The cat slept for most of its time in the first few hours of being home. I laid down next to him on the floor when I was getting ready to fall asleep and soon I was out -- my cat nestled right next to me. A few moments of rest were suddenly disrupted as I woke up from cries from the cat. Panicked -- I quick switched on the lights to see my cat lay there motionless. I quickly rushed to his side for a heartbeat and felt it drastically out of normal pace. My cat of 13 years was going into shock. I rushed him to a nearby 24hr clinic -- at which point it was already too late. I got to see him one last time before we parted ways. Part of me strongly believes that my cat had "gotten better" in those days at Spirit of 76 because he wanted to rest at home. Nothing could be more reflective then that thought -- The thought that he wanted to be with me in his final moments. The spirit of 76 did what they could and I find that most admirable. Left messages several times for a vet (the third different vet we had seen at the clinic, very inconsistant) to call me back not 2 days after we were there with our dog and spent $300 on stupid tests. Went to Dr. Seebart once but he's Mr. No Personality. dr. voss is extremely caring and knows well of what he speaks of. he will do research to make the problem that will not go away, go away. plus, major plus here, he's eyecandy. *wiggles eyebrows* the staff at the front desk: Betty, Josh, Miss Roxanne, Meghan, Chris, should all get big fat raises. They are really great at their job. although, i must add, the new staff are a bit clueless. can i call them ignorant? they do not know what they're doing, if the roof was missing, would they notice? seriously, hire beyond looks and go for intelligence. i abhor these new creatures that walk around like a wound up toy. Do not go to this clinic. Used to be good but since expansion not so good. I had to euthanize and the uncaring attention we got was just awful and that was at the hands of the owner Semandel. He did not care that he kept us waiting 25 minutes and then caused enormous pain to our beloved dog whom we had loved for 19 years. Compassion was zero but hey pay the bill up front. Starting coming to this vet about 14 years ago, back when it was a tiny house like office.  It was so cozy, like walking into a little town vet.  Since that time they have updated and expanded and have created a more modern and clean office.  We used to use Dr Troy Semandal but after years of going to another vet due to miscare of the staff at Spirit, which almost killed my dog, we now see Dr Voss and I couldn't be happier,  I absolutely love him.  Dr Voss takes the time to talk and explain everything very thoroughly and shows a lot of care for my dogs.  Whenever I see him, he says hello and knows who I am, even if we are not there to see a vet and just stopping in for heart worm pills.  I can't say I'm extremely impressed with the staff that answers phones and take appointments because they are always unorganized and seem to just be "lost". BUT I think I may have mentioned that I love Dr Voss and that is why I am recommending this office, to see him. Read Less

Every review I've read on a variety of sites always talks about Dr. Semandel and in my opinion he was uncaring and quick to get you in and out of the office. After seeing him once and having to make another appointment I ended up seeing Dr. Voss, a little known gem in that office. Dr. Voss is a caring vet that actually listens to you, gives you options and doesn't make you feel 2 inches tall when the appointment in over. As far as the front desk staff...they typically leave much to be desired, whether ignoring you completely or being absolutely rude about payments and making appointments. Granted, I've only seen Dr. Voss and Dr. Semendel but of those two Dr. Voss is the best by far. Oh, and if you take my advise and try to schedule an appointment with Dr. Voss, make sure you stick to making sure you get him, especially if you have a small animal since the staff says he doesn't see them for some reason and always tries to get me back to Dr. Semandel, which will never happen again. I have been loyal to The Spirit of 76th Street Vet Clinic for approximately 5 years. They used to have good service. Not really sure what happened? New ownership maybe? Since they remodeled...maybe got more clientele, more money, they have been terrible. I set up an appointment for a week later with my dog, only to get a not so nice phone call from a lady that I had missed the appt, and to reschedule it with them. I was so udderly confused? So I called back, apparently I was scheduled for that Thursday, not the following because some young kid made a mistake but instead of taking my word for it, they took his, and sure enough, a few days later they had the gull to send me no show fee in the mail. I then called, asked to speak with the mgr, who was apparently out. But they took a message for me. I was never called back. I called back and got the runaround. So, I canceled my dog's appointment and took my business elsewhere, with no hesitation from them. They encouraged it actually. It was a joke! I am not sure what happened to this clinic. UPDATE"Spirit of '76' vet clinic has done a wonderful jobin performing the surgery on my sheltie, shelby. Post-opt, a week ago today, she had surgeryon a torn ACL. She started walking on all fourof her legs within five days after surgery. Shewas up and about in no time and back to hernormal self. I still have to watch her though,because she seems to think she can just takeoff whenever she feels like it. Her progressiveand rapid recovery has been truly amazing to me.Especially since, I was so apprehensive andafraid to see her results., since she is almost10 years old. I have to say, that shelby's persistanceand perseverance has added to her recovery, aswell. Shelties are extremely intelligent dogs.But, I just wanted to personally thankyou fordoing such a wonderful job! (again). You have no idea how worried I was and upset I was about this whole ordeal. I love my dogs so much, I cannot evenimagine my life without them!!! (we have two shelties). I recently had to have surgery on my sheltie for a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). My regularvet could not get her in for another week and a halfand I did not want to wait that long, consideringthe pain that she was in. So, judging from myprevious experience at spirit of 76 vet clinic, andknowing how professional and caring they were,I chose to have them do my sheltie's surgery.(I personally have a friend that goes here as well, andmy father does with his sheltie, chance).Dr. Seebard was the one who did the surgery on my sheltie and I have to say that he was really a wonderful doctor. This was a very traumaticexperience for me, as well as for my husband.You see, our dogs are our children and they meanthe world to us. So as a kid my family had taken our cats there, and we never had any problems. I recently got a puppy and that was the vet I knew of so I took my little guy there. They are remodeling the place now, and I dont know if it was busy that day or what, but I felt like they were trying to get me in and out as soon as possible. The doctor didnt even introduce himself to me as a new client. I had never had a dog before and when I set up the appointment the front desk never even told me I had to bring in a sample of his fecis. When I got there they asked me for it, and since I didnt know that, they said ohh just bring it in whenever you can. The puppy checkup was quick and the doctor was not personable at all. He had short simple answers for all of my questions that I wanted to know since I was a first time dog owner. He had no opinion on what mix breed my dog was when I asked.. Two weeks later my dog was throwing up so I scrambled to bring in a sample for them to test and he had round worms. They gave me his meds and I thought it would be fine. The new vet I had taken him to one week later tested his sample and now they found paracites in it. Does the spirt of 76th not test for everything when they do their lab work.????? I dont understand how they did not catch that with the round worms so I could get it all taken care of right away. Also the new vet told me he had 2 baby teeth that were not sapossed to be there, and one of them was digging into his gums so they should be removed. I dont recall the spirit of 76th vet spending more than 3 seconds looking inside my dogs mouth. My experience here was pathetic, I was really let down. Read Less

I've been bringing my cats to Spirit for about 20 years and though it has changed hands a few times, I would never take my babies anywhere else. The staff has always been kind and helpful and the Vets are extremely knowledgeable. When one of my cats was diagnosed with an unusual kind of cancer, the doctor explained to us all of the options and offered to refer us to people he knew at the Veterinary Medical College in Madison for more extensive/ experimental options. While we chose a non-invasive approach, I really appreciated that he would go the extra mile to give us the best possible care. They are finishing a total remodel and their new facility looks to be both beautiful and highly functional. I would recommend Spirit to anyone looking for high-quality care. Read Less

I have been at this vet for 3 years now with one of my dogs, and one year with the second. The Vets themselves have always been kind and compassionate - offering the world to you and your pets. Unfortunately, the front desk staff tend to have the opposite traits. Numerous times, the Vet would assure me one thing and the front desk would not follow through. The Vet would assure a phone call from the front desk for an Urgent appointment only to not get called at all... and when calling in to get the appointment I would be told it will be 3-5 days! Too long for my ill dog. Also, they have refused in the past to give medication schedules as told to me by the Vet. I would have to call numerous times to get it sorted out. Price wise, they are in the mid range for services, but I just cannot keep my pets going to a Vet with poor front desk coverage hindering their care. Read Less

They are able to fit people in in emergancy, at least that has been my experiance!Also they are very kind and the doctor even called me after Kalvin had been on his meds for a few days to check up on him to make sure he was doing ok. To me that is great customer service and showing that they care about the animals they treat. I am overall happy with the service that they provided and will definatly go back. The price is not bad either, I am not one to bargain hunt when it comes to my pets health care but the price was very nice and extreamly affordable. :-) Read Less
