I LOVE Dr. J!!  It's hard to find a good veterinarian.  I just moved to the Manteca area and had to find a vet to help me with my 2 year old APBT bitch.  She has a phantom pregnancy every time she goes in season, and for a show dog, this is VERY annoying. I also get nervous every time because there's always a chance of mastitis or other complications.  I expressed that I was against spaying her (which is a common fix to the problem) because I compete with her, so Dr. J went above and beyond to find another solution!!  I am so happy I trusted the reviews on yelp as I have found my new vet! Went in there to have my dog checked out, she has a hematoma on ear, the owner of this place was the doctor who looked at her,didn't seem to be thorough at examining her,usually a vet will look at her teeth first thing and it was odd she didn't even do that one little thing ,even after I asked her how much teeth cleaning would cost me,she spouted off $400 and still no concerns on the condition of her teeth ,she told me my dog had ear infection in both ears,failed to mention what type of infection, didn't do any tests to find out. Was more concerned with asking me if I wanted an estimate on the surgery to get rid of the hematoma which would come to be $650 along with a $142 bill that day, for a 5 -10 minute examination mostly to tell me a bunch of things I knew was going on already,aside from the infections. Two prescriptions were given one I asked about flea mess because drops weren't working for the fleas,so she sold me some chewables that cost $72 still see some fleas on her 4 -5 days later,which isn't the biggest of my concerns ,the real reason one star is given is because I was sold a bottle of ear drops or (poison) I should now call it. And told me nothing about it other than to put four drops in her ears once daily, so now my dog is deaf and come to find out through internet research that it is not for dogs that are old or have ear drums that are not intact,which I don't recall her ever confirming whether or not they were intact.and she was told my dog is 12 years of age and a pitbull that is pretty much old age.. so now my dog is scared and confused. And it is a lot harder to guard me and my family and our home with a dog that can't hear. This vet was concerned in giving me the bills more than anything else, this is not a place that truly cares about your animals, even f you have some money for them they still won't care for the animal but you will get their attention,but is it worth it?I wish I had no money and she just had shooed me off like a stray. I read the reviews and decided to give them a try. I brought poor little Butterbutt in, and she was a very, very sick, listless, 6 lb., 12 yr. old unspayed Rat Terrier. Although she was a new patient, they took her right in, examined her, and told me that she had pyometra, an extremely serious uterine infection in older unspayed dogs. By the time we got there as walk-ins, she had been vomiting blood and passing out; she was at death's door. They decided to spay her immediately to eliminate the infection, and had me bring her in for a *daily* 9 hour intravenous "feeding" for the next several days to stabilize her. Slowly, over the next couple of weeks, she rallied. You should see her now: 12 yrs. old and acting like a puppy, jumping happily around again. THESE VETS REALLY CARE!! They completely saved my precious dog's life, and I am eternally grateful to them. These people represent what a vet and their staff should be. I am in the process of having them become my new vet's office for all of my dogs. They are super friendly and kind people you can trust with your pets lives. Read Less

We've been coming to this vet for probably the past 10 years and there isn't a vet around that meets the high level of quality & care that they offer. We primarily see Dr. Ann and we appreciate her thoroughness and approach to vet care. She isn't going to load you up with expensive things just because and always weighs the pros and the cons to make an informed decision. We've had to put two pets down and each time it was handled with a lot of respect & dignity. Anytime that I end up at the emergency vet, they call for a follow up to see how they are doing and if there are questions or other concerns. Took our newly adopted rescue Boxer here today.  I (or my dogs) have never had such a fantastic experience at the vet!  The entire staff was very welcoming to both my husband and I, and our little girl.  They went out of their way to make her comfortable, and I think she wishes she could go there every day!  Dr. Debbie was first to welcome us and our pup, her compassion and expertise was evident in our conversation.  We saw Dr. Ann for a new patient exam, and she is also obviously very knowledgeable about our breed, which can have some distinct medical problems.  My little girl loved her from the get-go (it didn't hurt that she had tasty treats in her pocket, little girl found them right away!).  Overall, it's obvious that this facility really cares about your furry family members (and I'm not talking about Uncle Joe), and has the expertise to keep them healthy for a long, long time.  It's always been so stressful to take my dogs to the vet, as they get anxious as soon as they see the facility, but my little girl was welcomed so warmly, that I'm sure she will have no anxiety about going back.  This is truly an exceptional facility, Doctors, and staff. Dr. Ann (Scearce) and the team are great. We have been with them for 10+ years now and are so grateful for the love, care and compassion they show our pets (and us)! Beyond the routine appointments (which are never rushed, are always informative, and all around a good experience for us and dogs/cats) at times there are tough decisions and emergencies, and everyone has always been very supportive, helpful and respectful. You couldn't ask for more out of a care partner for your fur babies.I had a recent scare and brought my puppy in as they opened their doors. Although they had no space/available appointments, they took him back, did a thorough exam, found the issue and we left with medicine 15 minutes later. He was back to 100% within days. To be fair, they have set hours (can't always fit in emergencies - this has happened to me, and they told me exactly where to go) and they do have to have payment in place to treat your pet. That is fine with me. Without being paid for services we would not have this great veterinary team to go to! And they are always careful and kind when discussing costs and options. Love Ripon Vet, Dr. Anne Scarce cares a lot about your pet and is easy to talk to unlike most vets in this area. Their prices are average for the area (not expensive yet not cheap). I will gladly pay a little extra to have a vet who cares. Read Less

This is just another veterinary clinic who cares more about money than morality. My puppy is sick with Parvo, and they wanted to charge $800 for her to be hospitalized, they offered no payment plans, and wouldn't let us bill, even though we'd be able to pay next payday. They'd rather see an innocent dog die than lose their precious money, just like so many other vets I've been too. It's despicable. I just hope my puppy can pull through with the at home treatment :[. My wife and I started taking our animals to Ripon Veterinary Hospital when we first moved to Ripon in 1989. Over the years we have taken Dogs, Cats and Rabbits to see Dr Daniels and Dr Debbie. Through normal visits to major surgeries we couldn't have been treated better or had our pets get better care. We will soon be leaving the area and will miss the friendly staff and excellant care. I brought in my dog for Cherry Eye surgery. At the time, I informed the doctor that he had it bad in one eye and only an occasional flare-up in the other eye. The price to do the surgery in both eyes was only a $50 difference so I said that was fine, but when I arrived back a few hours later to pick him up I was informed that the doctor had chosen only to do one eye. Well it is now only 11 days later and sure enough, the other eye has begun to flare up. I have placed a call and so far the doctor has not returned my call. I will hold off on my final ratings when I do hear back from her. At that time I am hoping she will do the second eye for the same price I was originally quoted. More later!!! Recently our dog Chewy was injured badly from falling out of a moving vehicle and then was hit by a moving car. he was absolutely on his death bed. the Doctors and staff here are outstanding to say the least. They are responsible for the initial care to my dog which resulted in his survival of this terrible accident. they have always been as reasonably priced as possible and their care for animals really shows. Giardia cells do not always show up in fecals. In as many as 60% of fecals a puppy with Giardia will show a negative result. My two puppies were very sick, with the smallest one being the sickest so I took her in to Daniels daily for 4-5 days for fluids while she continued to lose weight, not eat, and had water diarrhea. All signs of Giardia but because the fecal came back negative Dr. Daniels wouldn't give me Flagyl to at least give the puppy a chance as she saw the puppy was getting thinner and sicker every day. I wish I had sought a second opinion but by the time I lost faith in Daniels it was too late.. By the time I got the Flagyl from a breeder, it was too late to save the puppy, but I was able to save the very sick litter mate. I had begged Dr Daniels for Flagyl and told her what the breeder said about all the signs being Giardia but Daniels couldnt handle that a dog breeder might know something she did not know. Her ego. I pleaded with Dr. Daniels that my research shows 60% of fecals do not show the Giardia cells and to please give me the medication. The Parvo test was negative amd the puppy was getting worse so I begged Daniels saying what would it hurt since the puppy was getting worse with the amoxil she was on ? I wish I had never mentioned to Dr Daniels that a breeder found the answer. I did not know at the time that Veterinarians can't handle being wrong. Despite my frantic pleas Dr Daniels told me NO about the Flagly . I can;t express my helplessness and and pain I must live with. At this point my puppy did not have time for me to go to another Vet for a fecal test to get the meds because the puppy was too sick, so a breeder told me to come to her and she had the medication. My puppy died but I raced to the Bay Area to get the medications for the very sick sibling.( 4 hour round trip drive) The sibling was up walking around and eating after two doses. I never received an apology when I informed Dr. Daniels the Flagyl had saved the sibling so the diagnosis of Giardia was correct. I never received an apology for the death of my puppy Read Less

Our dogs are like our children to us. The doctors and staff at Ripon Veterinary Hospital are the best. Our dogs are always excited to go. They remember their favorite vet techs & assistants. Our youngest loves ""Dr. Ann"", who is a complete doll. She is bubbly and on top of their care. She always calls to check on them later when they have been sick.When our 16 year old lab was dieing Dr. Daniels was so compassionate and accomodating. She gave us all the information in an easy to understand way so that we could make informed decissions about his care and ultimatly, his quality of life (or lack of). They let us say goodbye in a private and comfortable area and I held his head in lap as he slipped away. It was truely bitter-sweet. Our cat gets great treatment as well, but being a cat, doesn't show her appreciation like our pups. Not hissing is about the best she does to say thanks, LOL. The price is right as well. We have used other vets before we moved to Ripon, but wouldn't go anywhere else now we've been to Ripon Veterinary Hospital. Read Less
