Animal Medical Care provided me with the worst veterinary experience I’ve had in my life. I have been around animals since I was little so I am no stranger to vets. The only reason I brought my kitten here was for the voucher deal with the shelter that is next door (this is where I adopted my boy). On my first visit to this clinic the receptionists were reasonably welcoming but after their greeting I received no hospitality. Nobody introduced themselves or seemed affectionate with my kitten. I noticed that the room I was put in had dog treats in it and while this may seem harmless a cat can smell the dogs that have been in that room and can cause them even more anxiety than they already have. Vets should know that right? I wish there were rooms dedicated to the care of cats although I guess it wouldn’t matter as they do not seem to care about cats anyway. Kitten was only getting vaccinations which sounds simple but I also expressed concerns regarding some wheezing that kitten had to the tech and when brought to the attention of the vet (which I will discuss next) did not even address it or seem even mildly interested. The vet, whose name I still do not know because he never introduced himself, bursts into the room and starts to manhandle my kitten. Thankfully kitten is easy going but I felt extremely uncomfortable with the way the vet held him. The vet was in an obvious rush and presented me with no answer to my kittens wheezing. I brushed this experience off because I like to think the best of people, but when I returned three weeks later it was the same thing all over again. Also, this time kittens tooth was coming in crooked and the vet said it needed to be pulled. In addition, kitten will be neutered during the dental procedure. I anticipated more details from the vet regarding surgery but he proceeded to shove kitten back in his carrier and walked out of the room. No education regarding the procedure, no explanation of why kittens teeth were messed up, nothing. I am now becoming slightly irritated now. The surgery is scheduled (no information given about price and prep) and I return two days later to drop kitten off. Later that afternoon I come back to pick up kitten and I am handed a disheveled and dirty animal in the lobby with no privacy. The vet does not meet with me to say how things went, what to expect, when to come back, or give any instructions on post op care. I’m shooed out and I return home with kitten. Since then his jaw has become misaligned and his teeth grind together. Never will I ever recommend or return to this clinic. Read Less

Took my dog Havoc in because he wasn't eating or drinking for 4 days straight. Dr. Black took Xrays and told me he had a stomach tumor and would have to be Euthanized. I took havoc home for 1 more night and prayed. Friday morning I was heading into AMC to put havoc down. On the way there I had the idea to get a second opinion. I stop @ Temple Vetiarian and Medical surgical on Scott st. They did second x rays and found that havoc had eaten a corn cob and got stuck in his intestant. They did emergency surgery and now havoc is fine @ home with our family. I've shared my store on social media and here. I don't recommend this place @ all. My husband and I took our cat to them earlier this year to be fixed after we had adopted him. They said we needed to have proof of his rabies vaccination so we took his paperwork proving his last shot was just a couple of months ago (his previous owners left it with the shelter to be given to his new family) and his tag as well. They called us to pick him up shortly after lunch and he was an absolute WRECK. He was still so drugged up that he couldn't lay upright or pick his head up and he knocked around in his carrier and kept rolling and flipping the whole ride home. He couldn't walk or use the litter box and wound up defecating on himself. It took hours to sober up. They clearly sent him home way too early. Then I checked the receipt for his procedure and they had proceeded to give him a rabies vaccination and charge us for it, when we had already given him the documentation, at their request, proving he was already up to date! Just speaking to them on the phone trying to set up his appointment was a hassle and they had a hard time answering basic questions. I kept telling my husband that it seemed like they didn't know what they were doing up there just based on the phone calls, but he just figured maybe it was a new desk girl or something. This place is awesome. Very friendly staff both on phone and in person. The place is very clean and the vets take the time to explain what's going on in detail. Recently had a rescued kitten neutered and given his shots here. I also take my two doxies. If you're looking for a good vet clinic, you've found it! All the staff is really professional and nice. The problem came with the dr. I had to take my 2 year old with me to the appt. he did cry, and is very scared of dr offices; however, he is only two years old. So, the doctor had no smile, very dry, came across as extremely annoyed as if I wasn't already stressed enough trying to comfort my two year old and take care of a puppy. We won't go back, and I did apologize to the dr for my son being upset but the dr just walked out. It was stressful, and he could've have had just a tad bit of understanding. I had to get my dog neutered. They told me to drop him off between 7 and 9am. I asked many times to make sure that was correct and it anyone would be there if I came close to 7, as I am aware they don't open until 7.30am. I came at 7 and no one was there. I was further mislead by ththe closed sign, which had a small clock that indicated they would be back at 6:25. Since it was well past 6:25 I assumed someone would be there soon. I was referred to this clinic when I moved her from my vet in ElPaso whom is also Dr. Crews. Funny thing. I have seen all of the vets and adore them. The compassion Dr. Black had with me and my daughters Cocker I carry with me. Kindness does not do justice to his kindness during a terribly emotional time. Dr Koonson recently treated an elderly neighbors dog for us that we thought was dying. The next day she was On the road to a full recovery. Terrific treatment plan executed and delivered to her 84 yr old best friend. Dr. Crews has always taken great care of my babies including some emergencies. I could tell many stories of folks I have referred to them. The staff is great. Have been purchasing all of my flea and heart worm medications here for years and am always entertained with the staff and their helpers. The best practice in Bell County. Read Less

Excellent customer services, secretaries at front desk always polite.Here is a little story on my two rascals Spike and bunny Spike is a 5 year old Boston terrier  And bunny a 1 year old rescue pit red healer mix (mutt)After a bunch of visits to another popular store they just couldn't figure out what he had, it only took 1 visit to this office here to figure it out, spike was treated and back to an old grumpy and crazy doggy!Bunny I came across at a gas station close to work gentleman said he couldn't take care of her anymore so I decided to give her a home wife as usual hated the idea lol but bunny is very friendly loyal and always looking after my kiddos and looking out for spikyBunny was bitten by rattle snake in our back yard once and brought her the first morning they checked her in immediately.Last December I had a car accident that man I just can't believe that me and bunny are alive we didn't get seriously injured but poor bunny broke her rear left hind, brought her in the next morning and same excellent serviceI really couldn't believe on the price, very fair honest and prices are great !!Thank you !!I Highly recommend this clinic we actually drive 1 hour To their store and would drive 2 if needed Read Less

These wonderful folks have been taking care of our beloved cats for about 5 years. This past week they were kind enough to see us without notice, as we had emergencies with our cats. The ladies at the front desk were kind enough to squeeze our cats in and Dr. Black was kind enough to examine them.  In the past, Dr. Koonsen and Dr. Crews have also been great!!!The ladies at the front desk, those that help the veterinarians in the exam rooms, and the veterinarians have always treated us an our cats wonderfully.
