' CT from Motherlode Veterinary hospital killed my dog Tammi I am a client at this clinic since 2015 and loved it there under the original owner Dr Tim van Geem. In 2019 Dr Tim did her dental with me present and had her on IV fluids . She woke up in my arms there. Sadly on the 26. of August the man who did the dental this time didn't do his job and she died a horribly of acute kidney failure after. Tammi was his patient for years and he knew about her already fragile kidneys after a reaction last year. Tammi was treated by him for it since spring 2021. He still decided to not give her the support of IV fluids she needed. To help her kidneys during the surgery Also there is no record of blood pressure monitoring during the procedure in the surgery log. Also... I check marked heart worm testing as well as pre surgery lab work on the form and when I asked for it they told me they can not find it. Then suddenly a few days after they showed me a whole blood panel and a heartworm test which was taken AFTER surgery..... her Albumin was only around 2!!! no words really it's just messed up It should be protocol and impossible to forget or not to think it's necessary to give IV fluids to a dog during surgery!! No matter what the time is!! This 45 min surgery cost my baby her life. My best dog. The dog I love most. I will never be the same again and not trust again. My family is hurting and we are all grieving. She was my heart dog and every day is unbearable I relive this horror in my head over and over And it made me physically and mentally ill. We will pursue this legally. He admitted to me that he rushed the surgery and was overworked.... no words My most beloved dog died because of his negligence and malpractice. I trusted him because... i really don't know anymore .. sweet talk and nothing behind it. He offered me to euthanize her for free after. He said he would be happy to do so We are devastated and heartbroken to cut ties after 7 years at your clinic where I spent nearly all my money every year. 10000s of $$$$$ This should have never happened. She was a risk patient and he just threw her on the table not taking care of her that he promised. He killed my sweet sweet happy Tammi. The office never contacted me in the following weeks after surgery how I am or my Tammie Nobody cared No condolences nothing The only document I got per email was a offer to pay me everything back from the day of surgery till i left the hospital beginning of September. They want me to keep it quiet and i would not be allowed to talk about what happened Horrible I will miss the techs very very much Read Less

Had our first visit today. The vets all seemed very professional. Competitive prices, beautiful facility. We will be returning soon to have our dogs neutured. Seems like a well run ship. They invited my husband and I into the back while they worked on our dog which is always a good sign. We felt he was in good hands so we returned to the exam room while they work on our dog because in my own job I know that I get my job done much more efficiently without people staring at me. Seems like a great place, happy to call them our new vet. 😊 Read Less

For low-income family I was given a voucher for a rabies shot. All I had to do was pay $5, take the voucher to motherlode, to get my dog's rabies shot. I then thought since they were having a vaccination clinic I would go ahead and get both my dogs their vaccinations up-to-date and get their heart worm test and annual medicine. The front office worker came outside to where we were waiting in the parking lot, told us that we would have to have an office visit to get the heartworm test, and then the heartworm medicine. We waited an hour and a half just for the rabies shot only to find out that we couldn't get everything done here. It was a complete waste of my time. Little did I know that they sent out a notice to all their regular patient telling them they were also having a rattlesnake Clinic that day. What a cluster blank blank blank blank Read Less

Great prices but horrible wait times. Also watched 3 people leave today in anger and after 2 hours waiting and being skipped for emergency pets (I watched a dog that was oh soooo not an emergency, just needed a iron test to see if his medicine worked, cut the line because the two rudest people I’ve ever met were in charge of the signup list. A list that I had to bring to the front because they just left it somewhere and no one could find it. The big woman/nurse and the dark haired brunette behind the counter should not get to work at such a beautiful establishment. They were so mean to the customers, it’s shocking they somehow have kept their jobs at this place because the doctors are great, it’s beautiful and the prices rock but those two made the wait time horrible. They were essentially punishing people who asked about their time. They also couldn’t tell you what the wait time Might be after 2 hours. Ridiculous. If I were the owners I’d fire them and get happy people to replace them. That’s the only issue with this place really and I’m not going to change my review until they are gone. Read Less

This is one of the best veterinarian businesses ive ever encountered. The first time i spoke with them, it was because my senior dog had gone missing. They called me about a week later to see if i had found her. I had called and left posters at every vet in the area. They were the only ones who responded with compassion or checked to see if i had found her. Of course, the next time i needed a vet, it only made sense to go to them. The vets there are kind, competent, and caring. I never feel rushed. I feel like they always make certain i understand what is going on and am able to make the best decision for my pets. The place is a madhouse. It is always crowded. And yet, i am always seen in a timely fashion and have all the time with the vet, i could ask for. The front staff are caring, kind, and efficient. I wouldnt want to go anywhere else. This facility is definitely top notch. Read Less

We Cannot say enough about Dr. Mario and the amazing staff here! He saved our puppy and we can't thank him and the staff enough. After our puppy became mysteriously ill, we visited 3 vets including loomis emergency care- and no one could give us answers or any reassurance. We spent over a thousand dollars with other vets trying to get answers, with no success. When we called, Dr. Mario got us in immediately. He was kind, confident, decisive, clear, reassuring and took immediate action to help our puppy. He took the time to explain his prognosis and how he came to it, breaking down medical terminology for us and leaving us very much relieved. The clinic was super clean, and everyone we came in contact with was friendly and kind. All of our animals will be coming here from now on. THANK YOU!! Read Less

We were evacuated from our home in the Marysville area on 2/12/17 due to the situation at Oroville dam, in the confusion of gathering all the things we would need to take with us the medications for one of our dogs was unfortunately forgotten, the little dog has an enlarged heart and takes Vetmedin and Lasix for that condition. We explained the situation to the receptionist at Mother Lode Veterinary Hospital and with absolutely no concern for our situation during this stressful time she replied "We're not a pharmacy, you must bring the dog in for an examination" OK granted that is the policy of vets under normal circumstances but this is far from a normal circumstance, Vetmedin and Lasix are not drugs that anyone would abuse as a recreational drug and the lack of any compassion exhibited by this person just disgusted me! Dr Mario has been my vet for 7 years now. I can't say enough about his compassionate and caring way of explanation. He is very down to earth and reassurring whenever I call knowing that I have high anxiety about my pet. He always returns my calls and explains everything in a down to earth way so that it is easily understood. The whole staff at mother lode is great. I want to thank Dr. Cameron and the wonderful staff at Mother Lode Veterinary for taking such good care of my dog when he became ill with an infection. It unfortunately turned out to be a more serious diagnosis, but it was Dr. Cameron's thoroughness and eye for detail that caught the issue and got the issue properly diagnosed while my dog is in the early stages and still a good candidate for treatment. He and his staff really went above and beyond in consulting with and referring with other veterinarians, tracking down treatment medication during a shortage, and in handling the many phone calls and messages involved. Dr. Cameron is great when it comes to answering questions in detail - especially if you are a little nerdy like me and want to understand the biological processes involved. One minor drawback to his thoroughness is that you'll have a bit of a wait at the end of the appointment to check out as it seems he is pretty detailed when it comes to charting. Well worth it. I've been taking my dog to Motherload since he was a puppy, he's now six and a half. The staff has always been kind and professional. Even though I moved to Modesto over a year ago I continue to take my dog to this vet. I love that they communicate your treatment options and give you a clear idea of each possible diagnosis. They are incredibly reasonably priced as well. They genuinely seem to care about the community, I was a Guide Dogs for the Blind puppy raiser and they did all the veterinary care for the price Guide Dogs allowed and even billed them directly. They also routinely run vaccination clinics. Read Less

I went to Mother Lode Veterinary Hospital for the first time with my small dogs, Skeeter and Tinker. I was so pleased with their service. I have never had a vet treat myself and my dogs better! I have two pets who can be very nervous at the vet, and the vet and staff at Mother Lode were very understanding. We were also very pleasantly surprised by the bill. We made an emergency visit to Mother Lode Vet when our dog became ill while we were camping near Nevada City, far away from our normal vet. They took our dog in right away without notice. They have an open door policy so we able to see every test/procedure that was being done to our dog which I had never experienced at a vet before. They explained the next steps and did things only with our approval and best interest of our dog in mind. In the end, Dr. Molly Dinucci recommended that we put our dog to sleep. This provided some comfort knowing that was best decision for our dog and they gave us time to say goodbye. A couple weeks later we received a sympathy card in the mail. Read Less

We had to put down our dear family cat of 19 years not long ago and our veterinarian, Dr. Mario Dinucci was totally compassionate and thoughtful, as well as thorough. The suggestion of a mild sedative for our travel over really helped our cat relax in my arms and eased our high emotional state as well. Within a few days, we received a card personally written by Dr. Dinucci who expressed is condolensces. This is a saver. With the care of our cat by both Dr's Molly and Mario Dinucci, our Charlie lived long into his 19th year in feisty fashion. The staff from the desk ladies to the animal care handlers have always provided the professional, compassionate touch, we feel Mother Lode provides to the animals and their owners. Thank you all. This is by far my favorite vet in the area. I've been through 3 other vet clinics in Grass Valley, and I have been the happiest with Mother Lode. The staff is extremely attentive, and they have always been helpful. I was actually referred to them by another vet when my cat had a difficult to diagnose dental condition (that turned out to be bone cancer). The vet who referred me said that Dr. Van Geem at Mother Lode was the best vet between Davis and Reno to deal with dental issues. My cat had been misdiagnosed by two other vets, but Dr. Van Geem knew immediately what the problem was, even when the biopsy seemed ambiguous. He predicted with almost exact accuracy how the disease would progress. When my other cat became ill with kidney disease he worked with me to keep her alive for another seven years. (As a side note another vet at a different clinic who had seen her when I was traveling had told me she should be put down because cats with that level of kidney disease don't live long. Dr. Van Geem disagreed and was able to keep her going for another four years with great suggestions). I also have had very good luck with the other vets here as well. I also really appreciate their "hands-on" approach with the pet owners, encouraging owners to come in and see their pets getting their teeth cleaned or being in the room for procedures, or holding the animal as it is coming out of anesthesia. I never doubt that my pets are getting the best care here. Highly recommended. Read Less

Mother Lode Vet has been treating our pets for years. They have always treated my family and our pets with compassion and respect. I transferred here after other clinics failed to help my constantly itchy dog, they did! I consider the doctors and staff trusted, loyal friends and would never doubt my family members (2 dogs, 2 cats) were getting the best care. I can't imagine going anywhere else.
